We are currently hiring for a Senior Database Administrator to support the US Army Aberdeen Test Center (ATC), within the Information Systems Directorate (S6). In this role, the candidate will be responsible for building, administering, managing, upgrading, and migrating database environments, with a focus on Microsoft SQL Server technologies.
Responsibilities
- Perform enterprise database administration and system administration on all designated systems, including MS-SQL, My-SQL Database Management, etc. This includes assigned enterprise network and test mission support systems.
- Use database management tools to ensure data integrity.
- Implement measures to maintain and improve system performance.
- Support the achievement of all pertinent Acceptable Quality Levels (e.g., issue notification timeliness).
- Support cybersecurity in the creation and maintenance all relevant required policies, procedures, diagrams, hardware/software listings, and all other necessary artifacts required to obtain and maintain ATOs.
- Apply fundamental cybersecurity knowledge to secure their DBs and harden the relevant DB Operating System (OS) against Cybersecurity threats; implement required STIGs and create POAMs in the event scan results show vulnerabilities.
- Follow organizational CM requirements.
Qualifications
- Active DoD Secret security clearance.
- Active DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+).
- Relevant education/experience requirements:
- 7 plus years with Masters
- 9 plus years with Bachelors
- 11 plus years with Associates
- 13 plus year with no degree
- Experience managing Oracle databases including 11g and 12c.
- Experience installing and configuring multi node server-side load balancing RAC (Real Application Clusters) databases on Red Hat Linux, ASM on NETAPPS.
- Experience with storage, planning, design, implementation and support of large Oracle database environments including setting up backup and recovery strategies, performance tuning, query optimization instances, troubleshooting performance issues.
- Microsoft knowledge: i.e. physical database architecture as well as design, database backup, recovery and disaster recovery procedures, installing, performance tuning, query optimization, client/server connectivity, database consistency checks using DBCC utilities, capacity planning, HA options as well as contingency planning, log shipping, always on cluster, etc.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in performing in-place upgrades to include SQL DB migrations from one vendor solution to another (i.e., Oracle to MS (SQL)).
- Azure Cloud Database Administration experience.
- Ability to work in a team environment and independently.
- Bachelor's degree (or above) is preferred.
