Project Manager III

Position Summary

Venatore is a leading provider of secure IT infrastructure and digital transformation solutions for the defense sector. We are seeking a Project Manager III to lead a short-term, full-time project implementing a state-of-the-art multi-level security (MLS) network at the Flight Test Engineering Lab (FTEL) Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) in Edwards Air Force Base, California. In this senior role, you will oversee the FTEL SCIF Network MLS implementation from initiation through closeout, coordinating a multi-disciplinary team to ensure project success. This is a short-term, full-time assignment, performed entirely on-site at Edwards AFB, and requires an active TS/SCI clearance.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee overall project execution, coordination, and reporting, ensuring all project tasks and deliverables are completed on schedule and to quality standards.
• Plan and conduct project kickoff meetings and on-site surveys, establishing project objectives and aligning team efforts with customer requirements.
• Develop and manage the project schedule, milestones, and budget; lead regular status meetings and prepare progress reports for stakeholders and senior leadership.
• Coordinate cross-functional team activities (systems engineering, network engineering, cybersecurity, technical writing), facilitating collaboration and resolving any interdependencies or conflicts.
• Facilitate technical design reviews (System Requirements Review, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review), ensuring stakeholder buy-in on system architecture and design decisions.
• Oversee hardware and software procurement and vendor management, making sure acquisitions align with the approved system design and project timeline.
• Provide on-site leadership during network installation and integration, working closely with Edwards AFB personnel to address issues, mitigate risks, and maintain compliance with SCIF protocols.
• Monitor and manage project risks and issues proactively, implementing mitigation plans and adjusting project scope or resources as needed.
• Ensure completion of all required documentation and deliverables (system design documents, test reports, security accreditation packages, training materials); drive the project through verification, customer acceptance, and formal closeout activities.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI security clearance (current and in good standing) required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of project management experience leading IT or network infrastructure projects, with a track record of successful on-time, on-budget delivery in a government or DoD environment.
• Demonstrated experience managing complex technical projects involving system design, integration, and cybersecurity compliance (experience with secure network or SCIF-related projects is highly desirable).
• Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors, and to interface effectively with government stakeholders and end-users.
• Excellent communication skills, including experience producing project documentation and reports, and presenting status updates to stakeholders.
• Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools (scheduling, risk management, reporting); Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of DoD policies and procedures for system implementation and security (e.g. Risk Management Framework) is a plus, to effectively navigate project requirements in a classified environment.
