We are seeking a highly experienced Senior FPGA System Engineer (SE3) to support mission-critical efforts. The successful candidate will serve as a lead systems engineer with expertise in field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs).
This position involves systems engineering of complex embedded hardware systems, with a focus on hardware security and microelectronics assurance. Candidates must be adept at integrating research and development insights into operational capabilities, and comfortable leading end-to-end engineering efforts within high-side, mission-focused environments.

Responsibilities:
- Plan, lead, and manage systems engineering activities for FPGA-based solutions in support of VAS mission needs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in hardware design, vulnerability analysis, and access solution integration.
- Define and document system architectures, interface definitions, and requirements for embedded FPGA systems.
- Drive research initiatives in microelectronics and hardware security, contributing to white papers, technical publications, and mission capability development.
- Oversee verification and validation processes, ensuring design integrity and alignment with mission objectives.
- Participate in technical exchange meetings, design reviews, and deliver system engineering artifacts to support customer milestones.
- Interface with stakeholders to understand mission objectives and translate them into technical requirements and implementation strategies.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 20 years of systems engineering experience, specifically in support of Fort Meade mission spaces.
- Proven experience in FPGA design and development, including HDL coding, simulation, and synthesis tools (e.g., VHDL/Verilog, Vivado, Quartus).
- Strong background in microelectronics, embedded hardware, and low-level system design
- Demonstrated contributions to technical writing, research, and peer-reviewed publications in hardware security or related fields.
- Experience leading system engineering efforts across the lifecycle - requirements development, design, implementation, integration, and sustainment.
- Familiarity with hardware assurance, reverse engineering concepts, side-channel analysis, and threat modeling at the silicon level.
- Solid understanding of physics-based system vulnerabilities, trusted computing, and microelectronic failure mechanisms.
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline (Advanced degrees preferred).
- Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph (required prior to start)
- MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Physics.
- Prior roles involving direct interaction with government stakeholders and classified mission teams.
