We are seeking a highly experienced Senior FPGA System Engineer (SE3) to support mission-critical efforts. The successful candidate will serve as a lead systems engineer with expertise in field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs).

This position involves systems engineering of complex embedded hardware systems, with a focus on hardware security and microelectronics assurance. Candidates must be adept at integrating research and development insights into operational capabilities, and comfortable leading end-to-end engineering efforts within high-side, mission-focused environments.

Responsibilities:
  • Plan, lead, and manage systems engineering activities for FPGA-based solutions in support of VAS mission needs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in hardware design, vulnerability analysis, and access solution integration.
  • Define and document system architectures, interface definitions, and requirements for embedded FPGA systems.
  • Drive research initiatives in microelectronics and hardware security, contributing to white papers, technical publications, and mission capability development.
  • Oversee verification and validation processes, ensuring design integrity and alignment with mission objectives.
  • Participate in technical exchange meetings, design reviews, and deliver system engineering artifacts to support customer milestones.
  • Interface with stakeholders to understand mission objectives and translate them into technical requirements and implementation strategies.

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum 20 years of systems engineering experience, specifically in support of Fort Meade mission spaces.
  • Proven experience in FPGA design and development, including HDL coding, simulation, and synthesis tools (e.g., VHDL/Verilog, Vivado, Quartus).
  • Strong background in microelectronics, embedded hardware, and low-level system design
  • Demonstrated contributions to technical writing, research, and peer-reviewed publications in hardware security or related fields.
  • Experience leading system engineering efforts across the lifecycle - requirements development, design, implementation, integration, and sustainment.
  • Familiarity with hardware assurance, reverse engineering concepts, side-channel analysis, and threat modeling at the silicon level.
  • Solid understanding of physics-based system vulnerabilities, trusted computing, and microelectronic failure mechanisms.
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline (Advanced degrees preferred).
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph (required prior to start)
Desired Qualifications:
  • MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Physics.
  • Prior roles involving direct interaction with government stakeholders and classified mission teams.
