The Garrett Group is seeking an experienced Modeling & Simulation (M&S) Computer Programmer to join our team. The selected candidate will be responsible for the development, integration, and execution of M&S systems, providing critical support in analyzing, reviewing, and assessing key performance parameters. This role requires coordination with system architects and engineers to resolve issues, troubleshoot M&S tools, and deliver the required capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • M&S System Management: Operate and maintain baseline Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) M&S systems, focusing initially on missile warning, missile defense, Nuclear Command, Control, and Communication (NC3), and space. Manage M&S/LVC components within a virtualized and federated architecture, ensuring availability for training audiences in coordination with other government agencies. Provide help desk support during normal working hours with 24/7 surge capability as needed during exercises and training events.
  • Simulation Development: Utilize government-provided tools and models to develop, test, and execute fully integrated and dynamic M&S simulations for display systems used during exercises, training, and wargames. Systems include, but are not limited to, Global Command and Control System (GCCS) Common Operational Picture (COP), Nuclear Planning and Execution System (NPES), Force Status Readiness (FSR) database, and virtualized Integrated Tactical Warning and Attack Assessment (ITW/AA) and BMD displays.
  • Tool/Model Coordination: Work with tools/models such as Joint Integrated Ballistic Missile Defense/Missile Warning Training System (JIMDTS), Low Overhead Training Simulation (LOTS), Scenario Injector, Hyperion, and Air Warfare Simulation (AWSIM).
  • Simulation Architecture Planning: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders during planning phases to identify and implement appropriate simulation architectures based on event requirements and objectives. Propose technical solutions and alternatives for unmet requirements.
  • Assessment and Experimentation: Support the selection, implementation, and execution of detailed computer models or alternative analysis tools for assessment, experimentation, concept development, demonstrations, prototyping, and wargames. Develop use cases, user scenarios, and concepts of operations; assist in designing simulation experiments.
  • Scenario Development: Develop specified NPES training/exercise scenarios using Hyperion (formerly XSCENE) and provide software configuration control and maintenance, including code updates. Transmit message traffic using NPES and perform M&S controller/role player tasks during events.
  • Database Management: Archive data and maintain historical M&S databases. Schedule, prepare, coordinate, and conduct database/event tests to check functionality/interface with operational Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (C4I) systems.
  • Reporting and Coordination: Draft and submit end-of-month status reports on M&S activities. Coordinate conferences, seminars, symposia, and technology demonstrations. Serve as Simulation Coordinator for specified events, facilitating M&S Working Groups, selecting appropriate tools, and conducting system tests.
  • Research and Implementation: Support research, testing, evaluation, and implementation of existing and emerging hardware and software M&S systems to enhance simulation capabilities or stimulate operational systems within the USSTRATCOM mission set during exercises and training events.

Qualifications:
  • Programming Proficiency: Must be proficient in Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), Python, or a similar programming language approved by the Government.
  • Experience:
    • At least 5 years' experience within the last 7 years in relevant M&S activities with demonstrated experience in tasks outlined above.
    • Experience in researching, testing, evaluating, and implementing M&S systems to improve current capabilities.
    • At least 1 year of direct experience in Nuclear Command and Control (NC2) and Space wargame visualizations.
    • At least 5 years' experience maintaining and operating live, virtual, and constructive M&S components in a virtualized and federated architecture.
  • Certifications: Preferred candidates will have a current Security+ certification or be able to obtain it within 3 months of the start date.

If you meet these qualifications and are ready to contribute to a dynamic team, apply to join The Garrett Group today!
