Tyto Athene is searching for a Junior Data Center Engineer to support U.S. Southern Command on the SCITES II Contract in Doral, Florida.
T he Junior Data Center Engineer supports the installation, configuration, and maintenance of data center infrastructure to sustain USSOUTHCOM's enterprise IT operations. The role focuses on hands on technical support, system updates, lifecycle management, and assisting engineers in system implementation and operations within a DoD-compliant environment.

Tyto Athene is searching for a Junior Data Center Engineer to support U.S. Southern Command on the SCITES II Contract in Doral, Florida.
T he Junior Data Center Engineer supports the installation, configuration, and maintenance of data center infrastructure to sustain USSOUTHCOM's enterprise IT operations. The role focuses on hands on technical support, system updates, lifecycle management, and assisting engineers in system implementation and operations within a DoD-compliant environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assists in deploying servers, storage systems, and networking equipment while adhering to industry standards and operational requirements
- Monitors system performance, conducts diagnostics, and performs basic troubleshooting to resolve hardware and connectivity issues
- Supports data backup, disaster recovery, and security measures to maintain system integrity and compliance with DoD policies
- Works alongside senior engineers to integrate new technologies and optimize data center operations
- Performs routine inspections, inventory management, and documentation of data center assets to support lifecycle management and operational efficiency
- Responds to Tier 1 service requests, assisting with system updates, patch management, and configuration changes
- Supports power and cooling infrastructure monitoring to maintain optimal environmental conditions
- Assists in security audits, compliance assessments, and performance optimizations to align with cybersecurity and continuity of operations (COOP) strategies
- Collaborates with IT teams to enhance data center reliability, scalability, and mission-critical support
Required:
- Highschool diploma or equivalent
- 0-3 years of experience supporting data center or enterprise IT environments
- Basic understanding of networking, storage and virtualization technologies
- Experience working with Windows or Linux server environments
- Basic scripting and automation knowledge
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Desired:
- Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related field
- CompTIA Server+ or equivalent
- Experience with VMware vSphere/ESXI
- Familiarity with Service Now
- Experience working in a DoD classified environment
- Knowledge of DoD STIGs and RMG compliance standards
- Exposure to structured cabling, rack and stack operations, and data center power/cooling systems
- Microsoft AZ-104
Clearance:
- Secret clearance required with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI
Certification:
- DoD 8570 Baseline & CE certifications are required for all positions and may vary slightly depending on the skillset required to perform the role
- CompTIA Security+ CE
