Tyto Athene is searching for a Data Center Engineer - Journeyman to support U.S. Southern Command on the SCITES II Contract in Doral, Florida.
The Journey Data Center Engineer supports the operations, maintenance, and performance optimization of data center networking, NAS, SCSI, and Fiber Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) systems at USSOUTHCOM. This role ensures high availability, performance, and reliability of computing and network environments. The candidate will provide hands-on support and coordination for hardware installations, monitoring, and troubleshooting in a secure, mission-critical environment.

Tyto Athene is searching for a Data Center Engineer - Journeyman to support U.S. Southern Command on the SCITES II Contract in Doral, Florida.
The Journey Data Center Engineer supports the operations, maintenance, and performance optimization of data center networking, NAS, SCSI, and Fiber Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) systems at USSOUTHCOM. This role ensures high availability, performance, and reliability of computing and network environments. The candidate will provide hands-on support and coordination for hardware installations, monitoring, and troubleshooting in a secure, mission-critical environment.
Responsibilities:
- Support the installation, configuration, and maintenance of physical and virtual infrastructure in the data center
- Monitor system performance and availability, using tools and dashboards to identify and remediate issues proactively
- Assist with infrastructure patching, system backups, disaster recovery test, and hardware lifecycle management
- Provide support for infrastructure provisioning, including rack/stack, cabling, power management, and documentation
- Collaborate with senior engineers to support enterprise storage, backup, and compute services
- Respond to incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
- Maintain compliance with security guidelines with DoD standards for data center operations
- Document operational procedures, infrastructure layouts, and maintenance logs
Required:
- Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or related field
- 4-9 years of experience working in data center or IT infrastructure environment
- Strong understanding of servers, virtualization technologies, and basic networking
- Hands- on experience with Windows or Linux based systems
- Familiarity with monitoring tools, incident management, and ITSM systems
- Ability to work in physically demanding environments such as racking, stacking and cable management
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Desired:
- Bachelor's degree in IT or related field.
- Experience with VMware, Cisco Unified Computing Systems or Dell EMC storage solutions
- Familiarity with scripting or automation tools
- Understanding of data center best practices
- Knowledge of disaster recovery procedures and business continuity
- CompTIA Server+, Cisco Certified Network Associate or VMware VCTA/VCP
Clearance:
- Secret clearance required with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI
Certification:
- DoD 8570 Baseline & CE certifications are required for all positions and may vary slightly depending on the skillset required to perform the role
- CompTIA Security+ CE
- Microsoft AZ-104
