Job Description
Tyto Athene is searching for a Junior Database Administrator to support U.S. Southern Command on the SCITES II Contract in Doral, Florida.
The Junior Database Administrator supports the implementation, configuration, maintenance and performance of critical database systems to ensure high availability and consistent performance of mission essential applications. This is an entry level role designed for candidates who are building foundational knowledge and gaining hands on experience in database management and security compliance within DoD environment.

Tyto Athene is searching for a Junior Database Administrator to support U.S. Southern Command on the SCITES II Contract in Doral, Florida.
The Junior Database Administrator supports the implementation, configuration, maintenance and performance of critical database systems to ensure high availability and consistent performance of mission essential applications. This is an entry level role designed for candidates who are building foundational knowledge and gaining hands on experience in database management and security compliance within DoD environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the installation and configuration of database servers and clusters
- Perform basic maintenance monitoring, and tunning of database to ensure performance, availability, and security
- Help manage database backup and recovery processes and validate disaster recovery procedures under supervision
- Support data and data security compliance with DoD standards and organization policy
- Work with application and system team to troubleshoot and resolve basic database related issues
- Document routine database management procedures and configurations
- Create and manage basic SQL queries and stored procedures
- Learn and apply security standards including DoD STIG compliance
- Participate in incident resolution and troubleshooting database related issues
Required:
- Highschool diploma or Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field.
- 0-3 years of experience in database support or IT operations.
- Familiarity with relational database systems
- Basic understanding of backup/restore procedures, indexing and query optimization
Desired:
- Basic knowledge of Linux or Windows OS.
- Interest in cybersecurity compliance (RMF, STIGs).
Clearance:
- Secret clearance required
Certification:
- DoD 8570 Baseline & CE certifications are required for all positions and may vary slightly depending on the skillset required to perform the role
- CompTIA Security+ CE
- Microsoft AZ-104
- Entry-level database certs
Compensation:
- Compensation is unique to each candidate and relative to the skills and experience they bring to the position. This does not guarantee a specific salary as compensation is based upon multiple factors such as education, experience, certifications, and other requirements, and may fall outside of the above-stated range.
