The SATCOM/Network Field Operations Support Technician provides operational and technical support for a Department of Defense (DoD) program office responsible for managing and sustaining global satellite communications (SATCOM) capabilities. This role requires expertise in tactical and strategic SATCOM systems, with a strong background in deployed communications support, particularly in austere environments. Successful candidates require experience in the operation, maintenance and troubleshooting and logistics of geographically distributed SATCOM and network systems to ensure continuous operation. The technicians will leverage their experience supporting expeditionary communications to enhance SATCOM network performance, ensure mission readiness, and provide technical assistance to deployed personnel. This is an expat position, living and working in the Philippines.

Successful candidates will deploy worldwide to provide technical expertise on tactical SATCOM systems, including Ka, Ku, X, L, and UHF SATCOM solutions. Candidates will perform spectrum management to optimize satellite communications and mitigate interference, and support the SATCOM system integration with tactical networks, IP-based systems, and hybrid communication architectures. Additionally, this role will serve as the on-site Security Officer and Communications Security Responsible Officer (COMSEC CRO) supporting physical security and key management for secure communications. The position also performs site logistics duties, managing inventories and equipment shipments using military and commercial resources to maintain system readiness. Candidates will also train and support end-users on SATCOM and network operations, troubleshooting, and field deployment best practices while ensuring compliance with DoD cybersecurity policies, SATCOM and network security protocols, and operational requirements.

This position requires a DoD TS/SCI clearance which requires US citizenship for work on DoD contracts.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Deploy worldwide to provide technical expertise on tactical SATCOM systems, including Ka, Ku, X, L, and UHF SATCOM solutions.
  • Perform spectrum management to optimize satellite communications and mitigate interference.
  • Support the SATCOM system integration with tactical networks, IP-based systems, and hybrid communication architectures.
  • Serve as the on-site Security Officer and Communications Security Responsible Officer (COMSEC CRO) supporting physical security and key management for secure communications.
  • Perform site logistics duties, managing inventories and equipment shipments using military and commercial resources to maintain system readiness.
  • Train and support end-users on SATCOM and network operations, troubleshooting, and field deployment best practices while ensuring compliance with DoD cybersecurity policies, SATCOM and network security protocols, and operational requirements.

Required Skills & Experience
  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • 3 years of field experience supporting expeditionary communications such as Special Operations Forces (SOF), Combat Communications, tactical communications units, etc.
  • Tactical and Strategic SATCOM Expertise: Strong background in military satellite terminals and transmission systems.
  • Field Communications Support Experience: At least three years of experience supporting expeditionary communications in deployed environments.
  • RF and Network Troubleshooting: Deep understanding of RF propagation, SATCOM link troubleshooting, and network protocols (TCP/IP, QoS, VLANs).
  • Physical and program security: Ability to maintain an active classified working area to include all required documentation. Will report back to a government Security officer.
  • COMSEC & Cryptographic Handling: Experience securing classified communications, including encryption and key management.
  • Logistics coordination experience using military and commercial shipping methods to transport mission critical equipment and system components.
  • Adaptability and Ability to deploy: Physically and mentally capable of deploying on short notice to austere environments. Committed to two 90-day deployments every twelve months (one on, one off).
  • Training & Documentation: Ability to train personnel, develop SOPs, and provide field-based instruction.
  • Cybersecurity Awareness: Understanding of DoD cybersecurity policies, STIG compliance, and network security best practices.
  • Joint & DoD Communications Systems Familiarity: Experience working with military communications infrastructure, tactical radios, and mission networks.
  • Capable of lifting and transporting up to 75 lbs. of equipment.
  • May be required to work extended hours, night shifts, and weekends to support mission-critical operations.
  • Ability to pass medical and security screenings required for deployment to DoD operational theaters.

Desired Skills & Experience
  • Security+ or Network+ (DoD 8140 compliant)
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent networking certification
  • Formal Satellite Communications training (SDN, SNAP, VSAT, etc.)
  • Proficient with Office 365 products
  • Previous experience with Jira, Confluence, and SharePoint

The proposed salary for this position is:

$121,000 - $201,600 USD
