The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our engineering team at EUCOM in Stuttgart, Germany. The primary goal is to empower our operations staff with a rich feature set, high availability, and stellar performance level of automation and orchestration tools to pursue their missions. Specifically, we are searching for someone who brings fresh ideas, demonstrates a unique and informed viewpoint, and enjoys collaborating with a cross-functional team to develop real-world solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain highly reliable and scalable systems
• Proactively identify and address potential performance bottlenecks and single points of failure
• Develop automation framework to manage platform infrastructure and applications at multiple geographically dispersed sites
• Work with operations team members to build use-cases for automation and orchestration within the environment
• Create a road-map for development of tools to build and mature a DevOps environment
• Drive the development and adoption of Infrastructure as Code
• Provide engineering and operational support for multiple software applications and databases
• Automate reporting, measure and optimize system performance and provide after action reports
• Gather and analyze metrics to assist in performance tuning and fault discovery
• Improve reliability and quality through rigorous testing and release procedures
• Drive system design, platform management, and capacity planning
• Balance feature development speed and reliability with well-defined service level objectives

Qualifications

Required
  • US Citizen with an active Secret Clearance and ability to obtain TS/SCI
  • Able to pass TESA with either a Bachelor's degree in computer science or other technical or scientific discipline and 3 years experience, Associates and 7 years experience, or High School, Diploma and 12 years experience.
  • Strong ability to program with one or more high level languages, such as Python, Go and PowerShell
  • Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, VMware Aria suite, ServiceNow
  • Experience with Configuration Management and CI/CD pipeline tools such as Git, Gitlab CI/CD, etc.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code and associated tools such as Terraform
  • Experience engineering, implementing, and supporting enterprise platforms, virtual infrastructure, storage, and/or network applications Ability to meet DoD 8570 IAT II compliance (e.g. Security+)


Desired

  • Previous experience in site reliability engineering
  • Industry standard certifications (e.g. VCP, CCNP, RHCE)
  • Previous success in modernizing operations to utilize automation and orchestration for day-to-day tasks
  • Ability to evangelize and gain buy-in to the benefits of automation from a wide range of technical and non-technical audiences
  • Previous experience in a functional DevOps environment
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker

Pay Range: There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:
$90,300 - 189,600 USD
