About the Role
As a Cloud Security Engineer, you will play a critical role in managing and securing the Department’s Google Workspace (FAN) and Netskope environments. You’ll lead configuration, integration, and governance efforts to ensure secure, compliant, and efficient operations across multiple tenants. This role requires deep technical expertise, strong collaboration skills, and a proactive approach to risk management and incident response.
Responsibilities
Manage and configure multiple Google Workspace and Netskope tenants, ensuring operational efficiency and security compliance.
Integrate Netskope with additional cloud platforms and applications, aligning with system owner requirements and security standards.
Conduct risk assessments for apps, scripts, and extensions, following established change request procedures.
Investigate and resolve Netskope-related incidents, escalating and reporting per incident response protocols.
Provide governance and strategic guidance for Google Workspace, ensuring adherence to security best practices and compliance requirements.
Lead continuous monitoring efforts, analyze compliance dashboards, and recommend actions to address security gaps.
Deliver quarterly briefings to the ISSO on monitoring artifacts, findings, and remediation plans.
Participate in cross-functional meetings with Google Workspace and Netskope teams to stay current on updates and collaborate on improvements.
Review and approve change requests, ensuring alignment with organizational policies and security frameworks.
Collaborate with product owners, system owners, and the ISSO to resolve issues and provide security recommendations.
Test and evaluate new features, configurations, and services, offering insights for policy and governance enhancements.
Respond to user inquiries related to cloud security policies, including external sharing and access controls.
Support potential future expansion into device management as cloud systems evolve.
Minimum Qualifications
Active Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain Top Secret.
Ability to work onsite 5 days a week in Washington, DC.
5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, cloud security, or IT security, with a focus on Google Workspace, AWS, or Azure.
Proficiency in Google Admin Console, Security Center, Google Vault, and Cloud Identity.
Experience with Google Workspace APIs, OAuth, and third-party integrations.
Hands-on experience with Netskope or similar cloud security platforms.
Strong understanding of DLP, Zero Trust, IAM (Google Cloud Identity, AWS IAM, or Azure AD), and email security protocols (DKIM, SPF, DMARC).
Familiarity with SIEM/SOAR platforms and threat detection in cloud environments.
Knowledge of federal security frameworks (e.g., NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, FISMA, DISA STIGs).
Experience in hybrid cloud and on-prem security environments.
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
