SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR

Systems Engineering Department

CLASSIFICATION: System Administrator; Salary TBD

GRADE: Exempt; Regular Full-time

LOCATION: Bldg. 955, Eglin AFB, FL

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The incumbent will perform daily administration of the systems environment, from hard ware to end user and everything in between. Incumbent will be required to assist in the de-sign, maintenance and management of multiple Active Directory domains. Incumbent will be responsible for all phases of the server environment for the entire lifecycle. Incumbent will be responsible for the availability of all business applications housed on application servers under their purview. Incumbent will be responsible for updating, maintaining and creating all documentation relevant to the system's environment. Incumbent will be responsible assisting the help desk team when escalations are necessary.

GENERAL DUTIES:
  • Advanced troubleshooting of Windows Servers both virtual and physical.
  • Advanced troubleshooting of hyper-converged hardware and hypervisors.
  • Advanced VMWare and Hyper-V hypervisor knowledge and experience, management and maintenance.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in hardening IT resources.
  • Experience with patch policies and procedures in an enterprise system.
  • Advanced skill with Group Policy configuration and management.
  • Advanced DNS and DHCP management. Familiarity with enterprise backup and restore procedures and processes (Veeam).
  • Experience with SCCM (configuration manager) configuration and management.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Defender and McAfee ePO operation and configuration. Familiarity with the STIG evaluation and remediation process.
  • Familiarity with Tenable Products (Nessus and Security Center).
  • Meticulous documentation of processes, procedures and projects.
  • Self-motivation to advance own skills with recent technological advances.
  • Ability to adapt to new platforms, for example hyper-converged infrastructures and new Server Operating system versions.
  • Basic understanding of Linux (RHEL) deployments, configuration and operation.
  • Any experience with an Air-Gapped environment is a plus.
  • Handling elevated issues from Desktop Support Technicians.
  • Deploying, configuring, and hardening new servers from the ground up.
  • Creating and evaluating new group policy objects.
  • Managing a datacenter consisting of over 100+ virtual servers, 25+ hypervisors, and multiple vCenter clusters.
  • Evaluating new hardware, software, and technologies.
  • Consulting on new tasks and engineering projects.
Job Requirements

OTHER DUTIES: Additional duties may be assigned to support contract/mission support requirements in job-related areas.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Requires 5 or more years of experience in systems administration. A CompTIA Security+ certification is required or must be obtain within 6 months. Experience with Windows Server OS, Virtualization, and hyper-converged server hardware required. Demonstrated experience and/or working knowledge of Microsoft Server 2019 and 2022, Microsoft workstation Operating Systems including 10 and 11 and a functional basic knowledge of Linux (Rhel). Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills are essential. Requires the ability to read and interpret written information and effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Must be able to work a flexible work schedule due to operational support requirements. DoD Information Assurance experience a plus specifically in the areas of IAVA and STIG evaluation, application and management.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: This position requires Secret security clearance. Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Must be able to work in a team environment or independently with little supervision. Supports E-OMS operational objectives. Observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work activities are normally performed in an environmentally controlled area.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:This position will be subject to substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Must be able to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; and requires standing, sitting, bending, and must be able to lift 50 pounds. Must be able to sit at a workstation and operate a computer for long periods of time.
