The Opportunity

CACI has an excellent opportunity for an experienced, self-directed, Network Infrastructure Technical (Inside/Outside Plant). This position is in support of a Department of Defense (DoD) organization OCONUS in HOA AFRICOM. This position is required to travel OCONUS.

The Inside Plant (ISP/OSP) Technician will perform cable plant infrastructure support and installation on multiple military networks (Unclassified, Classified, and Coalition) at Camp Lemonnier in Djibouti and downrange locations.

The Responsibilities:

The candidate will install, maintain, terminate, inspect and/or repair fiber equipment and media. Respond to outages to ensure network integrity and reliability. Install, maintain, terminate, inspect and/or repair unshielded twisted pair (Category 5, 5E and 6) equipment and media. Provide the customer with wiring configuration and other necessary support documentation as it relates to network rack installations and facility design. Previous experience with the use of telecommunications test equipment, OTDRs, bit error rate testers and communications analyzers.

The successful candidate should have prior experience with communications-electronics preventive and scheduled maintenance procedures to include equipment inspections.

The NIT will be required to work in dynamic fast paced environments that require team interaction and coordination of efforts. The candidate must be experienced in interfacing with both internal and external military leadership.

The successful candidate must be able to communicate clearly and succinctly both written and orally, and present products and ideas in a business-like manner. The candidate will require strong interpersonal skills due to continual interaction with managers, clients, and users with varying technical backgrounds in a fast-paced work environment.

Additionally, the ISP/OSP may be required to perform site surveys, configuration and engineering, installation planning and documentation services for the customer as they relate to the network infrastructure.

Qualifications:

Required):
  • Be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI)
  • Associates degree and three years of ISP experience, or 5+ years of experience required
  • Strong customer-service orientation
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Must be able to effectively interact with staff from other IT work centers
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Detail oriented and organized; able to understand network infrastructure evaluation criteria and be exact in assessments
  • Must be willing/able to work OCONUS for minimum of one year


Desired:
  • CCNA Security or CompTIA Security+ (or equivalent DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification)
  • Any of the following Fiber Optic Association (FOA) certifications: CFOT, CFOS/O, CFOS/D, CPCT, SFOS/S, CFOS/C, and/or CFOS/T.
  • Any of the following BICSI certifications:
  • Installer 1, (INST1); Installer 2, Copper (INSTC); Installer 2, Optical Fiber (INSTF); and/or Technician (TECH)
  • ITIL v3 Foundation Certification

The proposed salary range for this position is:
$68,400-$143,700
