Firebird AST is seeking an onsite Secret cleared Mid-Level Tactical Support Engineer in Cannon AFB, New Mexico to provide technical and analytical mission planning, execution, and post-mission system support to SOCOM units.
This is for a pending contract; contract award is anticipated in July 2025.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide system support services in five (5) major areas:
- Tactical Software Support
- Mapping
- Imagery and Geospatial Information System Support
- Tactical Network Administration Support
- Training Support
- Enhancement and Upgrade Support
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED
- 3+ years of SOCOM experience.
- Active DoD Secret clearance with ability to obtain TS/SCI
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or other related discipline; OR the equivalent technical training with experience that aligns directly to the duties to be performed in lieu of degree for specific user units.
- Minimum of 2 years, within the last 8 years, operational experience with/or supporting the assigned Component.
- Minimum of 5 years operational experience with or supporting an organizations: navigation and mission planning techniques including preparation and check out of flight plans for aircraft weapons systems OR mission planning computer systems, communications, mission equipment, and planning techniques including preparation of unit mission plans for conduct of peacetime and wartime special operations missions.
- Ability to communicate issues and solutions to various stakeholders.
- Experience with the assigned Components tactical Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and mission guides.
- Knowledge of assigned Components operations and tactics.
- Excellent writing communication and reporting skills.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background investigation, drug screening and periodic random drug screening throughout the duration of employment.
- U.S. Citizenship
PREFERRED
- Active DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
- 5+ years of SOCOM experience.
- DoD 8570 IAT Level 2, or higher certification.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ATTRIBUTES
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, reports, policy, legal documents, etc.
- Ability to prepare reports and presentations to company management and customer(s).
- Demonstrated leadership ability, strategic and innovative thinker, and passion for the mission.
- Ability to identify and solve problems.
- Excellent organization and time management skills.
