Position Overview

RMGS, Inc. is currently recruiting a Command Key Leader Engagement Support Planner in Tampa, Florida, in support of the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM).

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Maintain and continually update a calendar of all Top 5 Command engagements and events made visible to all USSOCOM HQ personnel.
  • Review and update the USSOCOM Command Calendar as well as monitor the individual calendars of the Top 5 in order to identify relevant KLEs and changes to existing KLEs and add or update relevant KLEs discovered through other sources.
  • Review the Protocol Workbook, HQ Visits Dashboard, and any other HQ portals that provide relevant information for KLEs involving the Top 5 in order to update the USSOCOM Command Calendar and other Command Engagement Synchronization (CES)-related documents.
  • Review and update other CES-related documents, such as the SMC Weekly Update (to the Chief of Staff (COS)/Director Command Support(DCS)/Secretariat of the Joint Staff(SJS)) and the SOCOM/Special Operations/Low Intensity Conflict (SOLIC) Calendar Forecast.
  • Manage all logistical and administrative matters related to the weekly CES meetings (chaired by the COS/DCS/Deputy DCS), including organizing the meetings, reserving rooms, establishing audio and video communications links, ensuring slides for individual KLEs are updated and accurate, distributing weekly CES slide decks to relevant participants, and facilitating the meetings.
  • Assist with and provide feedback on the refinement of the CES process and on all aspects of assessing the merits of Command KLE requests.
  • Assist with the development of, and provide feedback on, potential/future Command engagements.
  • Assist in identifying the Office of Primary Responsibility (OPR) and Office(s) of Coordinating Responsibility (OCR) for all Command engagements.
  • Work with OPRs and OCRs to update CES slides and all relevant Command calendars, and to assist and remind them to set up initial progress reviews (IPRs) with relevant Top 5 leaders.
  • In conjunction with SMC, encourage and assist OPRs and OCRs to develop themes and messages for individual Command KLEs as required.
  • Possess ability to respond (verbal and written) to client requirements and meet required deadlines.
  • Advise SMC and SOCO on any current/new data management/digital programs/initiatives that would improve the tracking of Command KLEs, updating and synchronizing Command engagement calendars, and researching the history of Command KLEs.
  • Serve as a liaison between the OPR and interagency, joint, and Department of Defense entities when coordinating and planning Command engagements.
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of Command priorities and relevant issues, trends, policies, and opportunities that relate to Command KLEs.
  • Contribute as a member of the SMC team, in close coordination with the SOCO team, to include collaborating with staff directorates and attending meetings as identified by SMC and SOCO to aid in the facilitation of planning and executing Command engagements
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in a science related field of study. Preferably in Political Affairs, Political Science, or another related field.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in strategic communications/ engagements as a planner including at least one year of experience working as part of a leadership team.
  • Minimum Fifteen (15) years’ experience working with Special Operations Forces (uniform or civilian), or other military or defense entities.
  • Demonstrated skills and knowledge in planning and execution of strategic level engagements, collaborating and synchronizing efforts with internal staff offices, interagency, and joint entities.
  • Strategic and creative thinking when identifying and planning strategic engagement opportunities will enhance the objectives of the organization while addressing Command priorities.
  • Ideal candidate will have SOF experience. Strongly desire a candidate who had served as a SOF XO, staff officer or Senior enlisted level at the SOCOM HQs.
  • Active TOP SECRET/SCI clearance is required for this position.
