Job Description:

CACI is seeking a skilled and forward-thinking Cybersecurity Architect to join our cybersecurity team supporting the U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) Cybersecurity Service Provider (CSSP). This role directly aligns with the DoD 8140 Cyber Workforce Framework work role for Cybersecurity Architect at the Intermediate level. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, integrating, and documenting secure system and network architectures. Responsibilities include translating requirements into protection needs, evaluating security designs, ensuring compliance with organizational directives and cybersecurity principles, and performing security reviews to identify architectural gaps. This position requires the ability to work rotating shifts as necessary to support the MISSION.

The Opportunity:

Join a CACI team where the mission is critical, and the team culture is paramount. We are building a positive, fun, collaborative, and light-hearted environment focused on collective success and individual growth. Our leadership is committed to:

Culture: Fostering an engaging workplace through gamified cyber concepts (tabletop exercises, Backdoors & Breaches card game), team contests, informative lunch-and-learn sessions, active participation in local youth cyber programs, and opportunities to attend leading industry conventions like DEFCON and BSIDES. You'll apply your architectural skills to design robust security solutions.

Training: Championing life-long learning. We prioritize robust training programs aligned with your career goals and DoD requirements, focusing on security architecture, systems engineering, cloud security, and emerging technologies. Our leadership provides mentorship and resources to ensure continuous professional development.

Talent Management: Investing in your future. Every team member receives a detailed and fully customized Individual Development Plan (IDP). We facilitate cross-training and exploration of different roles within CACI, ensuring you remain challenged, engaged, and never bored, offering paths into specialized architecture or broader security roles.

This is an opportunity to design and implement secure solutions for critical national security systems, working within a collaborative team dedicated to innovation and mission success.

Responsibilities:

As a Cybersecurity Architect, you will focus on designing, building, and securing IT systems and networks, including but not limited to:

  • Security Architecture & Design: Develop and integrate cybersecurity designs for systems and networks, potentially including multi-level security requirements (KSAT 534). Design security architectures and frameworks applying principles like defense-in-depth (KSAT 68B, 1072A). Evaluate proposed security architectures and designs for adequacy (KSAT 2390).

  • Requirements Definition & Integration: Translate operational requirements into technical protection needs and security controls (KSAT 197A, 646A, 864A). Document and address security requirements throughout the system acquisition and development lifecycle (KSAT 561). Ensure acquired/developed systems align with organizational cybersecurity architecture guidelines (KSAT 579). Integrate organizational goals into architecture (KSAT 143A).

  • System Security Engineering: Employ secure configuration management processes (KSAT 568). Apply cybersecurity methods such as firewalls, DMZs, and encryption (KSAT 70B). Determine how security systems should function, including resilience and dependability (KSAT 183). Define and document the security impacts of new systems or interfaces (KSAT 994).

  • Security Reviews & Risk Management: Perform security reviews of system/network architectures, identify gaps, and contribute to security risk management plans (KSAT 765). Apply risk management processes to design decisions (KSAT 108).

  • Collaboration & Documentation: Collaborate with stakeholders to identify critical business functions and user needs (KSAT 631, 413A). Document architecture activities, design decisions, and system security context (KSAT 569A, 2248, 2887). Provide input on security requirements for procurement documents (KSAT 807).

  • Tuning & Improvement: Provide recommendations for tuning security controls and architectural components based on reviews, risk assessments, and emerging threats. Work with internal and external stakeholders to implement security improvements.

  • Reporting: Ensure architectural designs, security requirements, and risk assessments are properly documented and reported. Contribute to reports on architectural compliance or risk posture as needed for stakeholders, potentially including JFHQ-DODIN per CJCSM 6510.01B.

  • Additional Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned by leadership to meet mission requirements and support USSTRATCOM objectives. Depending on experience and team structure, this role may involve working under direct supervision or potentially providing guidance, training, or supervision to others.

Qualifications:

Required Certifications (Must possess one):

  • CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP+) CE

  • Red Hat Certified Specialist in Security: Linux

Conditional Alternative Certifications (Considered):

  • Microsoft Certified: Security Operations Analyst Associate (SC-200)

  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant technical experience is preferred, with a strong emphasis on security engineering, security architecture, network design, or systems engineering within a cybersecurity context.

  • Experience working within DoD or Federal government environments and familiarity with DoD cybersecurity policies, RMF, STIGs, and architectural frameworks (e.g., DoDAF) is highly desirable.

  • Expert-level knowledge of cybersecurity principles, security architecture concepts (including topology, protocols, components, defense-in-depth), network security methodologies, and systems engineering principles (KSAT 1158, 1072A, 22, 144).

  • Strong understanding of risk management processes, security controls (NIST SP 800-53), and secure configuration management (KSAT 108, 568).
