Overview
Join the cutting-edge of national defense with the Missile Defense Agency’s IRES contract. We are seeking a highly skilled Cyber Security Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support a mission-critical initiative at Schriever Space Force Base. In this role, you will help design, build, and secure a new IT platform from the ground up, embedding cyber security best practices at every stage of development. This is a strategic opportunity to have a direct impact on U.S. defense systems by ensuring a secure digital foundation.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the integration of cyber security principles and practices in the architecture and implementation of a new IT platform.
• Provide expert-level guidance in identifying and mitigating cyber threats, ensuring secure system design and implementation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and security teams to develop and execute secure solutions.
• Ensure system compliance with applicable cyber frameworks, including JSIG and the Risk Management Framework (RMF).
• Develop and maintain security documentation, standard operating procedures, and assessment artifacts.
• Provide mentorship and oversight to junior cyber engineers and support personnel.
• Support the full lifecycle of system security from design through Authorization and Accreditation (A&A).
Required Qualifications
• Active TS/SCI clearance (mandatory). Current TS with SCI eligibility
• Minimum of a Tier III DoD 8570-compliant Cybersecurity Certification (e.g., CISSP, CASP+, CISM).
• Extensive experience working with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and JSIG guidelines.
• Strong background in cyber system design, security controls implementation, and vulnerability mitigation.
Minimum experience
• Minimum of 10 years of related experience within Cybersecurity
Preferred Qualifications
• Direct experience with DoD A&A processes.
• Familiarity with cloud security principles and containerized environments.
• Experience with security toolsets such as ACAS, HBSS, or Nessus.
• Prior support to MDA, Space Force, or other DoD cyber security projects.
