Power Control and Monitoring Systems (PCMS) OPERATOR:

Summary/General Description of Position:

Operates power monitoring software; routes and transfers power; analyzes fluctuations, quality, and abnormalities; Observes, documents and reports data statistics for program improvement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Works as an active member of the PCMS plant operations team.
  • Participates in all normal plant operations tasks such as startup and shutdown, daily checks, record keeping, maintenance, housekeeping, and process adjustment.
  • Responsible for ensuring all automated data logging is functioning properly and data logs are backed up on a regular basis.
  • Maintains daily operation logs for shift in accordance with prescribed standards.
  • Performs regular inspection and maintenance on PCMS system and associated equipment.
  • Follows SOP directions while operating the PCMS system.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow switching order directives.
  • Assists in electrical and mechanical fault finding, repair, and reporting.
  • Assists in planning maintenance and outage activities.
  • Reports results of maintenance and changes to MDC facilities status in accordance with company and government directives.
  • 24/7 monitoring of the PCMS in accordance with company and government requirements.
  • Monitors equipment to measure, record and make adjustments within operating parameters, perform fault finding and repair as well as required scheduled maintenance.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • The following physical activities are frequently required of a PCMS Operator: reaching; sitting; standing; walking; communicating in person, by phone or through written correspondence; hearing; and viewing. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, loud noise, hazardous chemicals or materials, repetitive motions, and commuting to and from the FPP in inclement weather.


JOB REQUIREMENTS: Mandatory

  • High school diploma
  • 2-5 years of related experience - Electrical systems and/or Power Plant and/or HMI
  • Adheres to all current CUI GFORCE standards and all electrical safety standards to safely operate and maintain the MDC Power Control Monitor System (PCMS) system.
  • Must maintain a valid US driver's license.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Must possess strong computer skills, including, but not limited to Microsoft Office products.
  • Proficiency in speaking and writing in the English language to effectively conduct business with industry and Government, including oral presentations and written publications.
  • Handle interactions with the customer and company employees in a courteous, professional, and effective manner.

PREFERRED
  • Demonstrated experience operating Supervisory, Communications, and Data Acquisition monitoring systems of similar levels of complexity as the MDC PCMS system.
  • Experience with troubleshooting PLC programs including ladder logic, function block diagram, and structured text.
  • Knowledge of the Missile Defense Agency mission.
  • Experience with power generation systems, control systems, emergency and redundant systems, power and lighting systems.
  • Experience working in a remote location.
