Mid-Level Python Developer
Location: Herndon/Chantilly, VA
Clearance Required: TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph (FSP)
Position Type: Full-Time, On-Site
Salary Range: $200,000 – $220,000
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Mid-Level Python Developer to contribute to the design, development, and deployment of scalable data processing applications in a secure, mission-focused environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Python development, including web API integration, CI/CD implementation, and large-scale data processing using modern cloud and containerized architectures. This role offers an opportunity to take ownership of various aspects of the software development lifecycle, collaborate closely with technical leads, and support enterprise-level solutions.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Chief Engineer and Technical Leads to translate mission requirements into detailed user stories and functional components.
- Design, develop, and implement software features to interface with both existing systems and open-source technologies.
- Build and maintain automated test frameworks using PyTest and mocking techniques to support CI/CD pipelines and ensure robust deployments.
- Develop and maintain Python-based web APIs using FastAPI to interface with databases and cloud-native applications.
- Integrate Python code into Docker containers as part of a scalable, distributed architecture.
- Work as part of an Agile team, delivering software iteratively and participating in planning, standups, code reviews, and retrospectives.
- Design software application components independently and guide architectural design in accordance with best practices.
- Engage with customer stakeholders to align technical implementation with requirements and mission outcomes.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of professional experience in Python development.
- Strong experience with data processing libraries such as PySpark, Pandas, and NumPy.
- Proficiency in API development using Python libraries such as FastAPI.
- Hands-on experience with unit testing frameworks including PyTest and mocking strategies.
- Demonstrated understanding of cloud-based deployment strategies and containerized environments.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a high-paced Agile development setting.
Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Python ORM libraries such as SQLAlchemy.
- Experience deploying Python applications using Docker in cloud platforms such as AWS.
- Familiarity with designing system architecture and interfacing directly with customer or stakeholder groups.

- Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph (FSP) clearance is required for this role.

Salary for this position is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements.
Proposed Salary Range: $200,000 – $220,000
