Description
Junior Python Developer
Location: Herndon/Chantilly, VA
Clearance Required: TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph (FSP)
Position Type: Full-Time, On-Site
Salary Range: $150,000 – $180,000
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Junior Python Developer to support the development and integration of data processing software applications in a secure and agile environment. The ideal candidate will bring foundational experience in Python development, including building cloud-native applications, interfacing with APIs and databases, and contributing to CI/CD pipelines with robust testing practices.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Chief Engineer and Technical Leads to translate requirements into user stories and develop new functionality within existing software systems.
- Implement Python-based data processing functionality using open-source libraries such as PySpark, Pandas, and NumPy.
- Build automated test frameworks using PyTest and mocking tools to ensure code quality within CI/CD deployment pipelines.
- Develop and maintain web APIs using FastAPI to interface with cloud applications and database systems.
- Integrate and deploy Python code within containerized architectures using Docker.
- Work collaboratively as part of an Agile development team, contributing to sprint planning, code reviews, and iterative delivery cycles.
- Optimize Python applications for performance and scalability in large data environments.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- 1–3 years of professional experience in Python development.
- Experience with data processing libraries such as PySpark, Pandas, and NumPy.
- Proficiency in developing APIs using FastAPI or similar frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with unit testing frameworks, including PyTest and mocking practices.
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and Agile methodologies.
- Ability to work effectively within a team-oriented, mission-focused environment.
- Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Python ORM libraries such as SQLAlchemy.
- Familiarity with containerized deployment of Python applications using Docker.
- Exposure to deploying applications in cloud environments such as AWS.

- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
- Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph (FSP) clearance is required for this role.

Salary for this position is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements.
Proposed Salary Range: $150,000 – $180,000
