AEITS, Inc. is seeking a Usability/Human Factors Engineer Level 2 to support our mission-focused software development team.
In this position, you will support our customer in the Annapolis Junction, MD area. In this role, you will contribute to the development and sustainment of integrated, feature-rich capabilities designed to modernize visualization and presentation tools. You will play a vital role in enhancing the user experience for a highly complex application utilized by a wide range of mission users.
Mission: As a Human Factors Engineer supporting this government program, you will improve the usability of complex, mission-critical applications by applying human-centered design principles across the software development lifecycle. Your work will focus on understanding user needs, enhancing interface design, and ensuring that modern visualization tools effectively support real-world workflows and operational requirements.
Location: Annapolis Junction, MD
All work is on-site. This is not a hybrid or remote position.
Clearance: TS/SCI with Polygraph
Certifications:
Certified Human Factors Engineering Professional (CHFP)
Certified Usability Analyst (CUA) (Or equivalent usability/human factors credentials)
Requirements:
U.S. Citizenship
TS/SCI with Polygraph
Bachelor's degree in Human Factors Engineering, Cognitive/Experimental Psychology, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field (Advanced degree preferred)
Collaborate with developers, systems engineers, and managers to design intuitive, user-focused interfaces
Research, analyze, and document user profiles, workflows, and scenarios
Conduct task analyses and usability evaluations to support iterative product development
Design wireframes, interactive mockups, and visual assets using tools such as Axure and Adobe Creative Cloud Suite
Plan, conduct, and analyze usability testing sessions and present actionable feedback
Create and manage user surveys to capture insights and inform interface enhancements
Apply human factors and usability best practices across the full software development lifecycle (analysis, design, implementation, deployment)
Engage directly with end-users (analysts) to ensure product design aligns with real-world use cases and operational needs
Contribute to a collaborative environment with approximately 15 software, system, and test engineers
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 10 years of experience in human factors or a related discipline
At least 5 years of experience in user experience (UX) design and usability testing
Expertise in task analysis, user interface design, and human-centered design methodologies
Proficiency with industry-standard tools (e.g., Axure, Adobe Creative Cloud Suite)
Experience designing and conducting user surveys and analyzing results to inform design decisions
Ability to work effectively across disciplines and directly with end-users to enhance system usability
Education and Required Qualification
Master's degree in a related field is strongly preferred
OR
Bachelor's degree in Human Factors Engineering, Cognitive/Experimental Psychology, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field
Travel
Less than 10% of travel may occur.
