ARS is seeking a detail-oriented Business Analyst to support our government innovation technology program by gathering requirements, analyzing workflows, and recommending solutions to enhance operational effectiveness. This role will serve as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, translating needs into clear requirements and ensuring systems and processes are optimized for program success. The ideal candidate will combine analytical thinking with strong communication skills to drive process improvements and technology adoption. Responsibilities include:
- Gather and analyze requirements from various stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into clear, concise specifications for IT projects
- Conduct interviews, workshops, and surveys to collect information and document processes
- Analyze existing workflows and identify opportunities for improvement and optimization
- Assist project managers in planning, executing, and monitoring IT initiatives
- Document business processes and create detailed process maps, use cases, and user stories
- Collect and analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform decision-making
- Create reports, dashboards, and visualizations to communicate findings to leadership
- Research and evaluate emerging technologies to determine potential value and applicability
- Facilitate communication between business units and technical teams
- Test new systems and processes to ensure they meet requirements and quality standards
- Document system functionality and create user guides and training materials
- Support change management activities related to new technology implementations
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies for technology initiatives
- Participate in system configuration and implementation activities
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications/ Technical Experience Requirements:
- Must be a US citizen
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
- 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or similar role
- Strong analytical skills with ability to gather, interpret, and analyze complex information
- Experience documenting business requirements and creating process documentation
- Proficiency in requirements elicitation techniques and business process modeling
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels
- Experience using data analysis tools and visualization techniques
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into understandable terms for non-technical audiences
- Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and collaboration tools
- Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearance
Desired Qualifications:
- Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or similar certification
- Experience working with government or defense organizations
- Knowledge of IT service management frameworks (ITIL, etc.)
- Experience with business intelligence tools and data visualization platforms
- Background in technology implementation or system integration projects
- Understanding of agile development methodologies
- Experience with workflow automation or process improvement initiatives
- Knowledge of project management principles
- Familiarity with database concepts and SQL
- Experience with change management methodologies
