Job Title: Senior Cloud Engineer

Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior (mid-career) Cloud Engineer to join our growing Cloud Engineering team. This role involves designing, deploying, managing, and optimizing cloud-based infrastructures for mission-critical applications. As a Senior Cloud Engineer, you will work closely with DevOps, development teams, and IT leadership to enhance our cloud architecture, improve scalability, and ensure the security and performance of our cloud environments.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Design, implement, and manage cloud architectures on platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Build and maintain scalable, resilient, and high-performance cloud infrastructure.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and management using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
• Optimize cloud resource usage for cost efficiency and performance.
• Implement security best practices to protect cloud assets and sensitive data.
• Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability management in the cloud environment.
• Ensure cloud infrastructure complies with industry standards, policies, and regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOC2).
• Monitor cloud environments for performance, availability, and capacity planning.
• Identify bottlenecks and work on optimizing cloud-based workloads.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to cloud infrastructure, including network, storage, and compute services.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including DevOps, Software Engineers, and Product Managers to deliver cloud-based solutions.
• Mentor junior cloud engineers and provide guidance on best practices and technical challenges.
• Contribute to the overall cloud strategy and roadmap to align with business goals.
• Develop and implement automation pipelines for deployment, monitoring, and scaling.
• Continuously evaluate and improve the cloud infrastructure to align with evolving technology trends and business requirements.
• Respond to and resolve cloud-related incidents, providing detailed root cause analysis and long-term solutions.
• Work with other teams to ensure robust disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
• Stay current with emerging cloud technologies and propose innovative solutions to meet business needs.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in cloud engineering, with a deep understanding of cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Proven experience designing, implementing, and maintaining highly available, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructures.
• Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
• Experience with container orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipeline automation tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).
• Proficient in scripting languages (Python, Bash, etc.) for automation and management tasks.
• Strong understanding of cloud networking, security (e.g., VPC, IAM, VPN, etc.), and monitoring tools.
• Experience with logging and monitoring tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Prometheus, Datadog).
• Knowledge of cloud-native technologies (e.g., Lambda, S3, EC2, GKE, App Services, etc.).
• An existing DoD 8570 Baseline IAT Certification; higher levels preferred.
• TS or TS/SCI clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
• Desired certifications inlcude: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
• Experience with serverless computing (AWS Lambda, Azure Functions, etc.).
• Familiarity with logging and monitoring platforms like CloudWatch, Prometheus, Datadog, or Splunk.
• Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
• An adjudicated Counterintelligence polygraph.
