Job Summary
The Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DS) is the security and law enforcement arm of the U.S. Department of State (the Department). DS is a world leader in international investigations, threat analysis, cybersecurity, counterterrorism, security technology, and protection of people, property, and information. Its primary mission is to provide a safe and secure environment for the conduct of U.S. foreign policy. The Office of Security Technology (ST) supports the DS mission through the application and use of appropriate technical security countermeasures.The Countermeasures Program (CMP) and Security Technology Operations (STO) divisions are operational components within ST. CMP is primarily responsible for worldwide technical countermeasures policy for the Department. Countermeasures policies enforce the protection of sensitive and classified information.

Requirements
Specific Responsibilities
- Writes detailed reports upon returning from overseas travel to include acoustic and radio frequency test results as well as documenting maintenance and repair activity.
- Recommends and coordinates correction actions that need to be resolved by domestic Department groups and overseas staff.
- Provides training for post personnel and assists with the development of a training module for maintenance and repair programs.
- Maintains and calibrates test equipment to ensure they are performing up to standards. May also be required to maintain and repair shielded enclosures for domestic facilities.
- Serves as the team lead when a Project Engineer is not present on overseas trips.
- Must be able to maintain consistency of operations while making certain that employees have a clear understanding of their responsibilities.
- Must also provide a work situation that stimulates the growth of individuals.
- Must have current final Top-Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
- Must have at least five (5) years of experience in maintaining and repairing acoustic and radio frequency shielded enclosures.
- Professional electrical, plumbing or HVAC licensing, or at least five years of relevant experience is required.
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Must be eligible for and able to obtain and maintain required Security Clearance/access approvals.
- Must have substantive knowledge and understanding of regulations governing the use of and access to classified materials.
- Must be able to learn technical and physical security countermeasures systems and the Overseas Security Policy Board (OSPB) standards.
- Must know current RF shielding test procedures.
- Must have specific knowledge of Department of State regulations and policies for TEMPEST emanations and technical security countermeasures.
- Must know and understand Intelligence Community standards and directives.
- Must be skilled in using spectrum analyzers, RF receivers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, amplifiers, antennas, and other electronic test equipment.
- Must be able to interact with individuals or groups outside own organization and/or agency.
- Must demonstrate a good attitude and ability to work as a member of a team.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Must have a strong attention for detail and be able to multi-task efficiently and work in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
- Knowledge of acoustics is highly desired.
