Description Summary
Netrist seeks a seasoned Senior Operating System Engineer to serve in an advisory and
evaluation role, providing strategic consulting services for government program management
offices (PMOs) at USSTRATCOM. In this role, you will leverage your subject matter expertise to
evaluate, advise, and recommend strategies related to the creation, sustainment, modernization,
and integration of enterprise-wide server architectures. The current USSTRATCOM enterprise
environment predominantly utilizes Microsoft Windows Server 2019 or later, RedHat Enterprise
Linux (RHEL) 8 or later, along with a select number of Linux-variant appliances.
Your role will focus on evaluating and recommending solutions involving automation
technologies, deployment strategies, sustainment techniques, metrics, and monitoring systems
designed to deliver Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) capabilities.
Candidates must possess demonstrable expertise with Lightweight Directory Access Protocol
(LDAP), Identity and Access Management (IDAM), DNS integration, and Multi-Factor
Authentication (MFA) integration. For Windows specialization, familiarity with Microsoft Active
Directory, Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM), and Windows Server Update
Service (WSUS) is required. For RHEL specialization, expertise with RedHat Satellite Server,
RedHat Ansible Automation Platform, and RedHat Identity Manager is necessary.
We are looking for an excellent communicator, both written and oral, who can distil complex
systems and problems into relatable concepts and simple frameworks that give decision makers
tools to make the right informed decision. You will guide high-level technical decision-making by
providing structured analyses, assessments, and recommendations.
What you will do:
• Evaluate, assess, and recommend strategies for enterprise-wide server architecture
solutions, emphasizing modernization, sustainment, and integration.
• Provide advisory evaluations related to operating environments primarily including
Microsoft Windows Server and RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
• Offer strategic insight regarding automation technologies and deployment techniques for
IaaS and PaaS implementations.
• Provide expert evaluation of LDAP, IDAM, DNS integration, and MFA integration as part
of comprehensive server system solutions.
, • For Windows Server environments, assess and recommend improvements involving
Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM), and
WSUS.
• For RHEL environments, evaluate implementation of RedHat Satellite Server, RedHat
Ansible Automation Platform, and RedHat Identity Manager, providing comprehensive
recommendations.
• Provide technical recommendations supporting lifecycle management, capability
assessments, and technical planning activities.
• Collaborate closely with technical teams, leadership, and other stakeholders, ensuring
server and OS solutions recommendations integrate seamlessly with broader IT goals.

• At least one-year documented training or experience designing, deploying, and
maintaining server operating systems compliant with DoD cybersecurity policies,
including DoD 8500 series Directives, DoD 8100 series Directives, and CNSSI 1253.
• Senior-level expertise in designing, implementing, and sustaining enterprise-wide server
architectures, specifically with Microsoft Windows Server 2019+, RHEL 8+, and Linux-
based appliances.
• Extensive experience with modern automation technologies for IaaS and PaaS
deployments, including metrics, monitoring, and lifecycle sustainment.
• Proven practical experience with LDAP, Identity and Access Management (IDAM), DNS,
and MFA integration.
• Windows specialization experience with Microsoft Active Directory, MECM, and WSUS
• Linux specialization experience with Red Hat Satellite Server, Red Hat Ansible
Automation Platform, and Red Hat Identity Manager.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related
engineering discipline.
• 8+ Years of systems engineering within DoD and federal environments
• Active Top-Secret Clearance
• Maintain the following intermediate or higher-level certifications:
o Microsoft Server Certifications (e.g., Windows Server Hybrid Administrator)
o Red Hat Linux Certifications (e.g., Red Hat Certified Engineer - RHCE)
