Duties

  • Performs a wide variety of repair, rebuild, modification, inspection, and testing of self-propelled artillery, towed artillery, turret mounted weapon systems, and associated mechanisms.
  • Works on complete artillery pieces or a wide variety of major components, complex assemblies, and systems.
  • Traces circuits by referring to schematic diagrams and visually inspects circuits for faulty insulation, poor electrical contacts, and broken or worn electrical components.
  • May serve as a commodity inspector during Command Maintenance Management evaluations (COMET) or as a member of a Maintenance Assistance Instruction Team (MAIT).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

  • This position is INDEFINITE NTE 24 months, with possible extension up to 60 months, and permanent potential.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968.
  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
Qualifications

MILITARY GRADES: E4 through E9, or WO1 through CW2

COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENTS: WO AND ENL- 91,94
The policy to have a compatible MOS/AFSC has been suspended. When reinstated, you will have one year to meet the qualifications of this position or meet the requirements in the guidance set by NGB.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE : Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to perform mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic system operations. Experience demonstrating the ability to fit and adjust parts and assemblies.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience or training demonstrating a broad knowledge in repairing, rebuilding, modifying and testing mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems and major components of artillery systems. Experience in diagnosing malfunctions and determining needed repairs in artillery systems. Experience demonstrating the ability to inspect artillery systems. Experience which demonstrates the ability to develop test standards. Experience interpreting and applying drawings, schematics, blueprints, diagrams and specifications.

The Human Resources Officer (HRO) is the final approval for all ETP waivers. If approved, the memorandum will be returned to you and then submitted with your application.
