The Opportunity:
The Emerging Technologies (ET) Directorate within the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (OUSD) is responsible for the supervision and oversight of critical Department of Defense (DoD) Science and Technology (S&T) efforts. Their areas of focus include Munitions Technologies, Nuclear Delivery Systems, Operational Energy, Aerospace, Biotechnology, Quantum Sciences, and more. You will be at the forefront of ensuring that the U.S. military has access to cutting-edge technologies across air, land, sea, and space.
In this role, you will contribute directly to the mission of supporting national defense through the evaluation and advancement of emerging technologies. If you're passionate about innovation and shaping the future of defense, this is the opportunity for you.
The on-site requirement for this position is five (5) days per week at The Pentagon.
Responsibilities:
You will be instrumental in assessing and guiding the development of next-generation technologies that will support U.S. national security. You will provide critical analysis to leadership within Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD(R&E)) and support efforts that help shape the future of defense technology investments.

Pay Range: There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide Position, Navigation and Timing (PNT) Expertise: Understand current state of the art in PNT technology development across the government and private sector to assess quality and appropriateness of ongoing and planned DoD R&D programs.
- Assess RDT&E Programs: Conduct assessments and analyses of PNT Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation (RDT&E) programs to support OUSD(R&E) leadership during important decision-making meetings such as PPBE, Service Reviews, and OSD reviews.
- Develop Investment Strategies: Assist in formulating and executing strategies for PNT investments. This includes analyzing different models, approaches, and processes for funding decisions and helping organize evaluations of technology proposals.
- Support Congressional Engagement: Track legislative developments, congressional reporting requirements, and actions that impact the DoD. You will help gather and prepare materials for congressional hearings, ensuring PNT priorities are effectively communicated.
- Collaborate on PNT Technologies: Work with the PNT community to monitor testing and experimentation efforts. You will identify opportunities for collaboration, data-sharing agreements, and interoperability between services.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Clearance: Active DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance.
- Experience: 15+ years of relevant experience in defense-related fields
- Education: Master's degree or higher in a relevant discipline
Desired:
- Education: PhD in a related field is preferred.
- Experience: PNT applications with a preferred understanding of GPS and alternative technologies.
