Description:
The work performed under this task order includes hybrid-cloud and platform operational support to sustain and enhance the high-availability on- and off-premise cloud environments, as well as to provide Platform and Infrastructure as a Service (PaaS and IaaS) development. We are seeking a Platform Engineer to support the operations, maintenance, and development of NASIC's unified-cloud platform. This role is ideal for someone with strong Linux system administration experience, deep understanding of container orchestration tools like Kubernetes, and a solid foundation in secure coding and DoD compliance (DISA STIGs).
You'll play a critical role in managing NASIC's Kubernetes-based infrastructure while helping modernize and evolve platform services using DevSecOps principles and Agile methodologies.

Key Responsibilities
Platform Operations & Sustainment:
- Administer and maintain a Kubernetes-based platform in a secure, mission-critical environment.
- Ensure platform reliability, scalability, and compliance with NASIC's security and configuration standards.
- Manage system resources including virtualization, provisioning, capacity planning, and load balancing.
- Support platform user needs: manage accounts, troubleshoot issues, and maintain documentation.
Platform Development & Modernization:
- Research, test, and introduce new platform tools, services, and capabilities to enhance performance and automation.
- Collaborate with developers and product owners to align platform features with mission needs.
- Develop and maintain secure containerized applications using best practices and DISA STIG guidelines.
Required Skills:
- Strong experience with Linux OS system administration and DISA STIG compliance (Server & Application).
- Proficiency in Kubernetes, Docker Swarm, or HashiCorp Nomad.
- Experience managing virtualized environments and virtual machine provisioning.
- Familiarity with secure coding practices and coding containerized applications.
- Comfortable working in Agile Scrum teams and applying DevSecOps principles.
