The Opportunity:
CACI is seeking an experienced VMware Engineer to join our Infrastructure Automation team. In this role you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing DHS' VMware virtualization environment, ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability.
The VMware Engineer should feel comfortable optimizing the VMware implementation while collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance DHS' overall security posture. This role is part of a team of Infrastructure Automation and Security Engineers working to define, develop, and manage strategies that reduce risk and improves resiliency.

Responsibilities:
The VMware Engineer will:

• Design, implement, and maintain VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi hosts, vCenter Server and related components
• Plan and execute upgrades, patches, and migrations for VMware infrastructure
• Implement and manage VMware solutions such as vSAN, NSX, vRealize Suite, and Horizon VDI
• Optimize virtual machine performance, resource allocation, and capacity planning
• Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans for virtual environments
• Troubleshoot complex issues related to virtualization infrastructure
• Automate VMware operations using Power CLI, APIs, and other scripting tools
• Document and map the architecture of current virtualized infrastructure
• Support the development of a Infrastructure and Security roadmap
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance the overall posture through automation
• Stay current with emerging security technologies and industry trends to recommend improvements or additions.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Ability to attain DHS EOD and Top Secret clearance
• ITIL V4 Foundations certification (or obtain in first 6 months)
• BA/BS or equivalent +10 years of experience (AA/AS +12yrs)
• Significant experience with VMware virtualization technologies
• Strong knowledge of VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, vSAN, and NSX
• Familiarity with server hardware, storage systems, and networking concepts
• 5 or more years of hands-on experience in enterprise IT support
• Proficiency in scripting and automation (PowerCLI, Python, or similar)
• Experience working with and guiding technicians with varying skill levels and supporting end users remotely
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in optimizing security workflows
• Professional, customer-oriented, and even-keeled under pressure
• Effective communicator at all levels, both written and verbal.

• VMware Certified Professional - Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV)
• VMware Certified Advanced Professional - Data Center Virtualization Design
• VMware Certified Design Expert - Data Center Virtualization
• VMware Certified Professional - Network Virtualization
• VMware Certified Professional - Cloud Management and Automation
• Significant experience with DevOps practice and tools
• Knowledge of cloud security and containerization technologies
• Cybersecurity relevant certification Security +, CEH, GPEN, OSEP, Information Systems Security Engineering Professional(ISSEP)

Pay Range: There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:
$94,400 - $198,300
