ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN, MAINTENANCE II

CLASSIFICATION: Electronics Technician Maintenance II (3 positions); CBA Rate $35.50/Hr
GRADE: Non-Exempt; Regular Full-time

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: A pplies basic and some advanced technical knowledge to solve routine problems by interpreting manufacturer's manuals or similar documents. Work requires familiarity with the interrelationships of circuits and judgment in planning work sequence, in selecting tools, testing instruments, and is reviewed for compliance with accepted practices. This technician works under immediate supervision and achieves technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician. This technician may assist higher-level technicians in accomplishing modifications as well as identifying problems requiring further investigation. May be required to assist senior level technicians in performing software adaptations and computer problem solving and repair or perform minor actions without higher-level assistance. May be required to provide guidance, training, and functional supervision to lower-level technicians. Required to perform with limited instructions or supervision. Must possess a general knowledge of electronic component characteristics to aid in the selection of replacement components and devices. Knowledge of other trades such as the mechanical skills necessary to repair and modify servo systems, pedestal-drive systems, waveguide installations, and optics associated with laser and camera systems a plus. Must be thoroughly familiar with the operation of test instruments such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, frequency measuring equipment, and other related measurement instruments.
GENERAL DUTIES:
OTHER DUTIES: Other functions include assisting in the orientation and training of other technicians at this level when directed by the supervisor. Will perform general housekeeping and other job-related tasks. May be required to handle hazardous material/hazardous waste.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be a technical or service school graduate in electronics with two years' experience as an Electronic Technician.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Supports E-OMS operational objectives. Observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: May perform work assignments in a temperature and humidity-controlled environment. Some tasks and assignments such as the installation; operation; and maintenance of mobile systems, aircraft systems, or range instrumentation will require work performance in outside environments in heat or cold with exposure to the conditions typical of various work locations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Required to climb, bend, stoop, lift up to 50 pounds, pull, or carry heavy items.

GENERAL DUTIES:
- Maintains, repairs, troubleshoots, modifies and installs various types of electronic equipment and related devices such as electronic transmitting and receiving equipment (e.g., radar, radio, television, telecommunication, sonar, laser, electro-optics, infrared, telemetry, and communications systems, and navigational aids); personal and main frame computers and terminals, industrial, medical, measuring, and controlling equipment; and industrial robotic devices.
- The successful incumbent applies technical knowledge of electronics principles in determining equipment malfunctions, and applies skill in restoring equipment operation, evaluates performance and reliability of prototype or production mode, and recommends changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance.
- Primary functions are the operation and maintenance of complex data acquisition systems and control circuits associated with munitions testing including computer systems, analog and digital recorders, pressure measurement equipment, and firing systems (high and low voltage) utilized to conduct static detonations of conventional munitions and to collect data to characterize their effectiveness.
- Must have experience processing and tracking TMDE material through the Air Force PMEL system.
- Must be qualified to modify complex state-of-the-art electronic equipment and other related measurement instruments.
- Job functions include installation, troubleshooting, repair, alignment, and operation of typical electronic equipment including flight follower camera systems, standard and high-speed video cameras, temperature conditioning systems, computers, data systems, control systems, LAN for remote- control computer systems, electro-optics, fiber-optics, and communications systems.
- Must be able to communicate with project officers and customers and be proficient in laying out and setting up various arena tests, acquiring all data associated with these tests, to include data reduction and post mission target scoring activities.
- Required to provide support for the EIDS van which houses equipment to fabricate fragment sensor screens and to clean recovered fragments equipment, as well as equipment associated with pressure transducer calibration, fragment weighing, and Celotex scoring.
- Must assist higher-level technicians in accomplishing modifications as well as identifying problems requiring further investigation.
- May be required to assist senior level technicians in performing software adaptations and computer problem solving and repair or perform minor actions without higher-level assistance.
- May be required to provide guidance, training, and functional instruction to lower-level technicians.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Will often be required to work extended hours and weekend work.
