Job Description
Mission Technologies, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, is seeking a talented and driven Software Engineer to join our Advanced Modeling and Simulation Technical Operation. As a member of our team, you will play a critical role in the development of high-visibility 3-D maintenance and operator training software for DDG-51 (all flights), LHD-1, LHD-8, and LCS-class ships. Using cutting-edge tools like Unreal Engine (versions 3-5) and Visual Studio (C++/C#), you will contribute to creating innovative solutions that make a real-world impact.
Essential Job Responsibilities
• Design, develop, document, test, and debug software and systems to provide logical and mathematical solutions.
• Collaborate with project teams of contractors and government personnel to rapidly adapt to project requirements and deliver innovative products and services.
• Analyze system capabilities to resolve program intent issues, output requirements, and programming challenges, preparing clear and effective operating instructions.
• Develop utility programs utilizing C++/C# in a Visual Studio environment while ensuring adherence to software standards.
• Support testing, debugging, and ongoing improvement efforts to maintain high-performance applications.
Minimum Qualifications
• 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
• Strong collaboration skills, capable of working seamlessly with technical teams, including Subject Matter Experts, Developers, and Engineers.
• Knowledge of Machinery Control Systems (MCS) of DDG-51, LHD, and LCS class ships a plus
• Proactive problem solver with the ability to take initiative and identify potential issues.
• Expertise in C++/C# within a Visual Studio environment.
• Proficient in debugging software and working with Microsoft Office 365 products.
• Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain or currently hold a DoD Secret security clearance.
Preferred Requirements
• Experience with Unreal Engine is highly desirable.
• Military background or familiarity with military systems is a plus.
• Exposure to mechanical or electrical systems is an advantage.
