Senior Mechanical Drafter

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Drafter to support the development of detailed engineering documentation for complex mechanical systems and components. The ideal candidate will possess advanced CAD expertise, a strong understanding of engineering drawing standards, and the ability to establish drafting best practices across projects and teams.

This role requires a detail-oriented professional who can transform engineering concepts into accurate, production-ready technical drawings while ensuring compliance with industry standards and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Create, modify, and maintain detailed mechanical drawings, assemblies, and fabrication documentation.
- Develop engineering drawings that accurately communicate design intent, manufacturing requirements, and inspection criteria.
- Produce 2D and 3D CAD models and drawing packages for engineering and production teams.
- Apply industry drafting standards, geometric dimensioning, and tolerancing (GD&T) practices to all documentation.
- Review and update existing drawings to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with established standards.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, manufacturing teams, and stakeholders throughout the design process.
- Support configuration management and drawing revision control processes.
- Develop and maintain drawing templates, drafting procedures, and documentation standards.
- Establish best practices to improve drafting quality, consistency, and efficiency across projects.
- Assist with design reviews and provide technical drafting guidance to team members.

Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience as a Mechanical Drafter, CAD Designer, or related engineering drafting professional.
- Expert-level proficiency with SolidWorks or similar advanced CAD software.
- Demonstrated experience creating detailed engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation.
- Strong knowledge of ASME drafting standards, including: ASME Y14.5 and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Experience producing drawings for mechanical components, assemblies, and fabrication processes.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to drawing accuracy and quality.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting engineering, manufacturing, aerospace, defense, industrial, or product development environments.
- Familiarity with product lifecycle management (PLM) and document control processes.
- Experience developing drafting standards, templates, and workflows for engineering organizations.
- Ability to mentor junior drafters and provide technical guidance on drafting methodologies and standards.
