Requirements: U.S. citizenship. No security clearance required.
About SkyBridge Tactical
SkyBridge Tactical LLC is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business founded in 2008 and headquartered in Tampa, Florida. We support government customers with experienced professionals in training, operations, logistics, technical services, and program management. Our teams combine military and civilian experience to deliver dependable support in the United States and overseas.
Position Overview
SkyBridge Tactical is seeking an experienced Fighting and Mindset Physical Training Instructor to deliver progressive combatives instruction to military trainees and staff in a professional government training environment. The instructor will build participant skills, support instructor development and sustainment training, and maintain a safe, structured learning environment. This position is contingent upon contract award and customer approval.
Responsibilities
Plan and deliver 1.5-hour fighting and mindset physical training sessions for trainees and staff with varying levels of experience.
Teach fundamentals (stance, footwork), clinch and takedown skills (break falls, clinch controls, takedowns and takedown defense, wall work), and ground fighting (positional dominance, submissions, returning to the feet) using approved curriculum.
Demonstrate techniques, observe performance, and give clear corrective feedback to improve proficiency.
Develop quarterly training progression plans, from fundamentals to advanced instruction, and submit them for approval.
Coordinate with the customer’s training officer to keep curriculum aligned and incorporate newly approved tactics, techniques, and procedures.
Provide sustainment training, instructor development, and continuing skill development.
Enforce safe training practices, stop unsafe activity, and report hazards or incidents promptly through established procedures.
Maintain professional conduct, comply with all applicable federal, DoD, and Navy policies, and protect confidential customer and company information.
Required Qualifications
At least 5 years of documented experience teaching fighting and mindset physical training to Special Operations Forces (SOF) personnel.
At least 5 years of professional or college-level fighting experience in at least four of these six disciplines: Jiu-Jitsu, Wrestling, Boxing, Judo, Kickboxing, and Muay Thai, covering all three phases (standup, transition, and groundwork). Equivalent elite experience also qualifies, such as NCAA Division I or II wrestling, Olympic-level judo or combative athletics, or service as a senior military or SOF combatives instructor.
At least 10 years of experience teaching or coaching these disciplines across beginner, amateur, and professional levels.
At least 5 years of experience planning, managing, and executing multiple fighting and mindset physical training programs.
U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain government installation access.
Ability to sign and comply with a non-disclosure agreement.
Ability to pass drug-free workplace requirements and complete required government training.
Candidates currently on active duty must provide an approved terminal leave authorization or approved outside employment authorization covering the January 2027 start date.
Schedule and Travel
This is a part-time, onsite position working weekday mornings, typically 3 hours a day (15 hours per week). Candidates must also be available for up to six scheduled full workweeks per year and up to four one-week trips per year for program support and professional development. The final schedule will follow approved customer requirements.
