Overview
Our client is seeking a Principal Network Engineer to serve as the senior technical authority for enterprise routing and switching environments supporting a large-scale federal program. This role will lead the design, modernization, and implementation of secure, resilient, and scalable network infrastructure across complex enterprise environments.
Responsibilities
Own and drive enterprise routing and switching architecture initiatives.
Design and support complex network environments including LAN, WAN, data center, and cloud-connected networks.
Lead network modernization efforts, segmentation projects, and infrastructure upgrades.
Develop and maintain network architecture standards, implementation plans, and technical documentation.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to network engineering teams.
Act as the highest-level escalation point for complex network issues and architecture decisions.
Collaborate with cybersecurity, operations, and program leadership teams to support mission-critical initiatives.
Required Qualifications
7-10+ years of Network Engineering experience.
3-5+ years supporting large enterprise environments.
Active Secret Clearance.
Security+ or equivalent IAT Level II certification.
Strong expertise with routing and switching technologies, including BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VLANs, QoS, and network segmentation.
Experience with Cisco environments and enterprise network infrastructure.
Proven experience leading network projects from design through implementation.
Preferred Qualifications
CCNP certification.
Experience with Cisco, Aruba, Palo Alto, Dell, Infoblox, or Brocade technologies.
Experience supporting DoD or federal government environments.
Knowledge of IPv6 migrations, software-defined networking, and enterprise network modernization efforts.
