At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We're working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!
This role is part of Blue National Security (BNS), where our focus is the design, development, and delivery of launch and spacecraft systems for national security missions. Through Blue Ring, our all-in-one, high-powered hybrid solar-electric and chemical-propelled spacecraft, we provide unmatched mission maneuverability, versatility, and capacity at dramatically lower-profile costs.
About the Role
Multi-Mission, Multi-Orbit Space Mobility. Blue Ring is a high-powered hybrid solar-electric and chemical propulsion spacecraft that maneuvers, hosts, and deploys payloads across Earth orbits, the Moon, Mars, interplanetary space, and near-Earth asteroids. It supports science, commercial, and defense missions, and provides hosted payloads with communications, power, data storage, and computing services.
Blue Ring isn't a one-off spacecraft. It's a platform other missions are built on, such as the Mars Telecommunications Orbiter. Our flight software is built the same way: a reusable, configurable product line that evolves with every vehicle we deliver and supports multiple missions from integration and test through on-orbit operations.
That makes this a long-term team. You won't write code for one launch and move on. You'll grow with the platform, carry lessons from each vehicle into the next, and help shape the software that flies on all of them.
As a Flight Software Engineer III, you'll own flight software subsystems end to end, from hardware interfaces through verification, and see your work improve across successive vehicles. That kind of iteration rarely happens in a career built on one-off spacecraft.
