Job Details

This entry-level test role supports senior testers in verifying Navy training systems, helping with test procedures, documentation, issue reporting and hands-on hardware and network work under direct supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

• Help write and update basic test procedures and documentation for Navy training system readiness
• Support senior testers during system verification and acceptance events at customer or partner sites
• Identify and report functional or performance issues found in testing
• Record test results, keep logs current and draft simple sections of test reports as directed
• Assist with setup, configuration and basic troubleshooting of hardware, networks and test environments
• Take part in demonstrations and team discussions to learn the system design and share early test observations
• Support routine installation and maintenance of computer and network hardware under guidance
• Keep hardware inventories up to date and document minor configuration changes
• Complete clearly defined tasks under direct supervision, with room to take on more responsibility over time
• Work mostly standard business hours, with occasional planned schedule changes around testing events

Needed:

• U.S. citizenship and an active DoD Secret clearance at time of hire
• Some experience with or exposure to the AN/BYG-1 Combat Control System (operator, maintainer, tester or integrator experience all count)
• Familiarity with submarine combat systems, the SWFTS community or similar Navy tactical or training environments
• Basic hands-on experience installing, maintaining or troubleshooting computer or network hardware
• Ability to follow established procedures and document work accurately
• Willingness to learn, ask questions and build deeper system knowledge
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Willingness to travel as needed

Nice to have:

• Prior Navy or submarine operations experience, especially in sonar or combat systems
• Experience supporting Navy training systems or test events
• Introductory familiarity with systems engineering or structured test methods
• Basic understanding of networks, system integration, virtualization or Linux/Windows environments
• Strong attention to detail and an interest in troubleshooting
• Ability to work well on a technical team and adapt as requirements change
