We're a nonprofit engineering, applied research, and advanced technology organization working in the public interest. With objectivity and integrity at our core, we lead federally funded research and development centers for U.S. government agencies - collaborating with industry and academia to deliver integrated, high-impact solutions that advance our nation's health, security, and prosperity. Our people tackle the toughest technical challenges, supported by competitive benefits, meaningful career development, and a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence. Choose MITRE for a career with purpose - and help shape the future.

The MITRE NORAD/NORTHCOM, SOUTHCOM, and STRATCOM Department (N558) is seeking an experienced professional to serve as the Omaha Site Operations Manager and Business Operations Lead, supporting MITRE's Omaha-based workforce and USSTRATCOM work program. This position will provide leadership and coordination for the day-to-day operations of MITRE's Omaha site while serving as the primary business operations liaison between Omaha team members, project leadership, department management, and MITRE's corporate business functions to include those that interface with the appropriate local sponsor (e.g. USSTRATCOM Industrial Security).

The selected candidate will work closely with USSTRATCOM Project Leaders and Deputy Project Leaders, Omaha-based staff, department leadership, and MITRE's business and administrative support organizations to ensure effective site operations, workforce coordination, resource management, and business process execution. Responsibilities will include coordinating site activities, facilitating communication across the Omaha team, supporting workforce planning and onboarding, addressing operational and administrative needs, and ensuring alignment between local site requirements, project priorities, and MITRE policies and procedures.

The successful candidate will be a proactive, collaborative professional who can operate effectively at the intersection of site management, business operations, workforce support, and project execution. The position requires strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and relationship-management skills, along with the ability to anticipate operational needs, resolve issues, and coordinate activities across multiple stakeholders. Familiarity with MITRE's business processes, project operations, and the USSTRATCOM mission environment is desirable.

Roles and Responsibilities

In addition, serve as the local MITRE lead interface with local sponsor (USSTRATCOM and AFNWC) support functions and MITRE corporate to ensure MITRE staff are fully able to work within sponsor locations (e.g. clearances, new accounts, badging).
  • Workforce Planning and Support: Coordinate workforce activities, including staffing requirements, onboarding and offboarding, employee transitions, training coordination, and local workforce engagement. Work with department leadership and Human Resources to identify and address workforce needs and improve the employee experience at the Omaha site.
  • Project and Resource Management Support: Support USSTRATCOM project leadership with staffing coordination, resource allocation, financial tracking, budget monitoring, and related business processes. Utilize MITRE business systems, including Clarity, Workday, Microsoft Office and other enterprise tools, to maintain accurate information, identify emerging issues, and support informed management decisions.
  • Site and Portfolio Integration: Facilitate coordination and communication across Omaha-based projects, technical teams, and MITRE organizational elements. Help identify opportunities for collaboration, improve operational efficiency, and ensure local activities remain aligned with USSTRATCOM work program priorities and MITRE organizational objectives.
  • Business Process Improvement and Reporting: Assess existing site and project business processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement practical solutions that strengthen operational effectiveness. Develop and maintain relevant operational reports, workforce information, resource tracking, and management metrics to support site and project leadership.
  • Leadership Engagement and Communications: Coordinate site meetings, leadership engagements, employee activities, sponsor visits, and other events requiring local operational support. Facilitate communication between Omaha staff, project leadership, department management, and corporate stakeholders to promote organizational alignment, responsiveness, and workforce engagement.
