Travel Network Technician - Secret Clearance & Security+ Required
Location: Fort Meade, MD
Clearance: Active Secret Clearance Required
Certification: Security+ Required
Travel: 90-100% CONUS & OCONUS Travel
Duration: 12-Month Contract
Overview
Leidos is seeking Travel Network Technicians to support the Defense Enclave Services (DES) program. This position supports large-scale network modernization, infrastructure deployments, lifecycle replacement projects, structured cabling installations, and site surveys across federal environments.
This is an excellent opportunity for hands-on network professionals looking to expand their experience supporting enterprise-level government networks while traveling extensively throughout the United States and internationally.
Responsibilities
Conduct site surveys of customer networks across CONUS and OCONUS locations.
Install, configure, test, and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and wireless controllers.
Support network modernization and lifecycle replacement initiatives.
Build, install, and organize network equipment racks.
Install, terminate, label, and certify Cat6 and fiber optic cabling.
Test and troubleshoot network infrastructure issues on SIPR and NIPR networks.
Create detailed site survey reports, network documentation, and design recommendations.
Ensure compliance with DISA, NIST, and TEMPEST standards.
Develop Bills of Materials (BOMs) and deployment documentation.
Perform preventive maintenance and scheduled network upgrades.
Track project progress and communicate status updates to stakeholders.
Support occasional after-hours implementation activities as required.
Required Qualifications
Active Secret Clearance.
Current Security+ certification.
3+ years of experience decommissioning, replacing, configuring, and supporting routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
Experience racking and stacking hardware or supporting data center environments.
Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
Knowledge of DISA network standards and topologies.
Experience creating topology diagrams and rack elevations using Visio.
Experience utilizing cable testers, OTDRs, network analyzers, or similar testing tools.
Ability and willingness to travel up to 90-100%.
Preferred Qualifications
BICSI Certification.
Experience supporting SIPR and NIPR networks.
Knowledge of ANSI/TIA-568 and ANSI/TIA-569 standards.
Familiarity with TEMPEST compliance requirements.
Experience supporting classified network environments.
Experience developing infrastructure certification documentation.
Work Environment
Candidates must live within 50 miles of Fort Meade, MD. This position requires 90-100% travel to federal customer sites across CONUS and OCONUS in support of network deployment and modernization projects.
