Project Details
Our client is seeking a senior Azure Cloud Engineer with strong disaster recovery (DR) experience to lead cloud resiliency and recovery efforts while supporting the buildout of multi-region Azure infrastructure.
This individual will be both a hands-on engineer and the technical lead for disaster recovery planning, testing, and readiness. Responsibilities include tracking infrastructure changes that impact DR, coordinating tabletop exercises, validating recovery procedures, and identifying and addressing gaps in the organization's recovery capabilities.
The engineer will work alongside an established cloud team to implement the Azure infrastructure, automation, networking, and backup/recovery capabilities necessary to support a reliable disaster recovery strategy.
The environment heavily utilizes Terraform and Ansible for Infrastructure-as-Code, repeatable deployments, and automated configuration.
Responsibilities
• Lead Azure disaster recovery planning, implementation, testing, and ongoing readiness activities
• Develop and maintain DR runbooks, recovery procedures, system dependencies, and infrastructure change tracking
• Plan and facilitate DR tabletop exercises, technical recovery tests, and remediation efforts
• Engineer resilient, multi-region Azure infrastructure supporting business continuity and disaster recovery requirements
• Implement and validate cross-region backup, replication, failover, and restoration capabilities
• Define and validate recovery time objectives (RTOs) and recovery point objectives (RPOs)
• Build and maintain infrastructure automation using Terraform and Ansible
• Collaborate with infrastructure, networking, security, and application teams to identify recovery dependencies and close resiliency gaps
Must:
• Strong hands-on Microsoft Azure cloud engineering experience (GCCH is a MUST)
• Previously lead Disaster Recovery Initiatives within a DoD Environment
• Experience designing and implementing multi-region Azure infrastructure for resiliency and recovery
• Strong understanding of Azure networking, geographic redundancy, and failover architectures
• Experience with Azure backup, replication, cross-region recovery, and restoration strategies
• Strong Terraform and Ansible skills
• Experience developing and maintaining automated cloud deployment and configuration pipelines
• Ability to independently drive Disaster Recovery initiatives while remaining technically hands-on
• Experience supporting DoD, government, or other highly regulated environments
• Familiarity with Azure Site Recovery, Azure Backup, and Azure resiliency services
