Job Description
Piper Companies is seeking an SRE (Site Reliability Engineer) to support mission-critical infrastructure for a leading government services and technology organization. The SRE (Site Reliability Engineer) will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing highly available Kubernetes environments, Rancher platforms, and Linux-based systems while ensuring scalability, reliability, and operational excellence across secure enterprise environments. The SRE role is a long term contract opportunity, requires you to work onsite 5 days per week and requires and active TS/SCI with a FS Poly.
Responsibilities of the SRE (Site Reliability Engineer):
• Administer, maintain, and optimize Kubernetes clusters in complex production environments.
• Manage and support Rancher deployments, including cluster provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management.
• Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, platform, and application-related issues across Linux systems.
• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to improve system reliability and performance.
• Automate operational tasks using scripting and infrastructure-as-code methodologies.
• Collaborate with engineering, DevOps, and security teams to support continuous deployment and operational efficiency.
• Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and system performance tuning initiatives.
Requirements of the SRE (Site Reliability Engineer):
• 5+ years of experience supporting enterprise infrastructure, cloud, or platform engineering environments.
• Hands-on experience administering Kubernetes clusters in production environments.
• Strong experience with Rancher for container orchestration and cluster management.
• Advanced Linux administration and troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with automation, scripting, and infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Knowledge of monitoring and logging platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or similar technologies.
• Active TS/SCI with FSP clearance.
Compensation for the SRE (Site Reliability Engineer):
• Salary range: $80,000 - $200,000
• Full Comprehensive Benefits: Health, Vision, Dental, PTO, Paid Holiday and Sick Leave if Required by Law.
