Job Description
Principal Systems Engineering Program Manager - RF / Electronic Warfare / Software Defined Radio
Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Systems Engineering Program Manager to lead the architecture, integration, and lifecycle development of advanced defense electronics systems. This role combines technical leadership, systems engineering expertise, and program execution responsibility across complex airborne platforms involving Radio Frequency (RF) systems, Electronic Warfare (EW), Software Defined Radios (SDR), waveform development, and secure communications technologies.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams while serving as the technical authority for high-visibility defense programs. This position requires the ability to bridge hardware, software, firmware, manufacturing, and test organizations throughout the full product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Lead architectural design, system modeling, requirements development, and systems engineering activities for advanced RF and airborne communication systems.
Provide technical and program leadership for complex development efforts, ensuring successful execution of cost, schedule, and performance objectives.
Own system-level requirements, interface definitions, trade studies, verification planning, and technical risk management activities.
Lead development of technical proposals, system specifications, and customer-facing engineering presentations.
Drive prototype development and integration activities to retire technical risk early in the development cycle.
Coordinate cross-functional teams spanning hardware, software, firmware, manufacturing, supply chain, and test engineering organizations.
Support integration, verification, validation, and lab-based troubleshooting activities.
Develop and review test plans, procedures, and reports for RF, communications, and embedded system testing.
Utilize MBSE and requirements management tools to maintain traceability throughout development.
Mentor and develop junior systems engineers while promoting engineering best practices.
Required Qualifications
Active Secret Security Clearance.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline.
15+ years of Program Management and/or Systems Engineering experience within defense, aerospace, or related industries.
U.S. Citizenship required due to ITAR and security requirements.
Strong background in RF systems, transceivers, Electronic Warfare (EW), and Software Defined Radio (SDR) architectures.
Experience porting, integrating, testing, or validating communication waveforms within SDR environments.
Expertise in systems engineering processes including requirements development, verification, validation, integration, and risk management.
Experience with requirements and MBSE tools such as DOORS, Cameo, or similar platforms.
Demonstrated success leading complex technical programs from concept through deployment.
Hands-on experience developing test plans and procedures within laboratory environments.
Proficiency using RF test equipment including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and related instrumentation.
Experience troubleshooting hardware/software integration challenges within RF systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Cryptographic systems experience including encryption technologies, key management, COMSEC, or secure communications architectures.
Background in Digital Signal Processing (DSP), waveform testing, and communications protocol development.
Experience supporting airborne defense platforms and mission systems.
Familiarity with Design of Experiments (DoE) methodologies and advanced system integration testing.
Advanced degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
Work Arrangement
Full-time opportunity supporting advanced defense technology programs.
Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearance access.
Collaborative engineering environment with significant technical leadership responsibilities.
