Job Description
Envision Innovative Solutions is a trusted technology and engineering partner delivering mission critical capabilities to government and commercial clients. Founded in 2006, we specialize in cybersecurity, information assurance, systems engineering, enterprise IT and network support, C5ISR, and software development, with internal R&D in extended reality (XR)—including VR, AR, and MR—for training and simulation.
Envision is seeking a motivated, career, and customer-oriented Software Engineer to join our team in Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Provide software engineering expertise to design, develop, test, integrate, and sustain software solutions for government information systems and associated applications.
• Support the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), from requirements analysis and architectural design to deployment and post-deployment maintenance, utilizing modern software development methodologies, including Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) and DevSecOps frameworks.
• Develop and release software modifications, including updates, patches, and new capabilities, while managing source code and documentation under a formal configuration management process.
• Create and maintain comprehensive software documentation, including design specifications, test plans, version release notes, and user manuals, to support system sustainment and knowledge transfer.
• Develop, plan, analyze, design products, and program computer software that requires extensive research. Utilize advanced knowledge in the field of computer science or software engineering, along with advanced knowledge of software development and methodologies.
• Perform software and system testing procedures, bug verification, release testing, and beta support. Perform product design and programming activities involving multiple modules or subsystems.
• Participate in design meetings and consultations with other staff to evaluate interfaces between hardware and software, as well as the operational and performance requirements of the overall system. Perform complex release testing and beta support for assigned projects and resolve problems found in the software.
• Prepare documentation required for the product. Analyze and research software requirements to determine the feasibility of design and marketing requirements within time and cost constraints.
• Consult with customers concerning the application and maintenance of software and coordinate the installation of software systems.
Required Skills:
• 7+ years of experience in software development, Cybersecurity, Information Security, or a related field
• Full-Lifecycle Software Engineering: Proven ability to execute the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), including building pipeline environments, code execution, deployment, and strict software configuration management.
• Coding & Environment Proficiency: Strong programming and scripting experience (e.g., Python, C++, etc.) with the ability to navigate, develop, and maintain code across both Linux and Windows operating environments.
• Defect Resolution & Sustainment: Demonstrated experience in code maintenance, identifying and troubleshooting complex software bugs, and developing reliable maintenance patches and hotfixes for fielded software baselines.
• Software Testing & Verification: familiar with conducting formal software verification, non-breaking regression testing, and supporting Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) for software releases.
Desired Skills:
• DoD & Weapon Systems Experience: Prior experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) or commercial weapon systems.
• Experience integrating hardware via software.
• Cybersecurity Integration: Familiarity with integrating cybersecurity into the software baseline, including implementing Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVAs).
• Software Management Processes: Knowledge of formal software management and release processes, including drafting technical documentation and/or participating in Engineering Review Board (ERB) and Configuration Control Boards (CCB).
Security Clearance Requirements:
