We are hiring a Senior Electrical Hardware Design Engineer specializing in PCB design, ruggedized electronics, and input/output (I/O) systems for defense and ground vehicle applications. This role supports electrical hardware development from requirements definition and circuit design through schematic capture, PCB layout, prototype debugging, testing, qualification, and production, with emphasis on analog and digital electronics, embedded hardware, and military communication interfaces.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop ruggedized electrical hardware, circuit boards, and subsystems for I/O products and body controller applications.
  • Develop hardware requirements, electrical schematics, PCB layouts, and test plans using industry-standard design practices.
  • Design and integrate I/O interfaces, including RS-422, RS-485, RS-232, SSI, CAN, analog, discrete, and power I/O.
  • Support electrical circuit design, component selection, procurement, circuit simulation, prototype builds, and hardware debugging.
  • Perform hardware verification, validation, testing, and qualification from initial concept through production delivery.
  • Conduct system architecture analysis, engineering trade studies, and technical design reviews.
  • Develop Product Design Functional Specifications (PDFS), provide supplier technical support, and assess supplier design compliance.
  • Manage electronic component obsolescence and hardware lifecycle requirements across multiple platforms.
  • Support Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations, develop engineering design fixes, and coordinate technical solutions.
  • Develop technical content for Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and conduct engineering trade studies supporting program requirements.
  • Apply hardware Integrated Product Support (IPS) processes throughout all project phases.
  • Maintain engineering documentation, design change records, hardware revisions, and debugging status

Qualifications:
  • U.S. Citizenship required by law or government contract
  • Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  • Minimum 12 years of applicable electrical hardware design and development experience.
  • Experience with PCB design, including schematic development, layout best practices, and electrical circuit board design.
  • Experience with electrical hardware development and testing tools.
  • Experience designing or integrating I/O interfaces, including RS-422, RS-485, RS-232, SSI, CAN, analog, discrete, and power I/O.
  • Ability to support hardware requirements development, circuit design, prototype debugging, testing, and qualification.
  • Ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary engineering teams and communicate technical information effectively.
  • Ability to manage concurrent engineering activities and maintain accurate hardware design documentation.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with digital and analog circuit design, power analysis, and thermal analysis.
  • Knowledge of schematic capture, component selection, circuit simulation, and PCB layout.
  • Experience with embedded microcontroller hardware and programming using C, C++, or Visual Studio.
  • Familiarity with high-speed and industry-standard interfaces, including PCIe, DDR, USB, SATA, RS-422/485, MIL-STD-1553, Ethernet, CAN, and solid-state drives (SSDs).
  • Experience with graphics and video interfaces, including HDMI, DisplayPort, HD-SDI, RS-170, and LVDS.
  • Knowledge of FPGA design and simulation using Xilinx toolsets.
  • Understanding of electromagnetic interference/electromagnetic compatibility (EMI/EMC) and high-speed signal integrity design practices.
  • Familiarity with military hardware design and testing standards, including MIL-STD-1275, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, and MIL-STD-810.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma design methodologies, Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), and reliability analysis.
