Job Description
Prometheus Security Group Global (PSG) is a Veteran-Owned Small Business that designs and delivers security solutions, including access control, intrusion detection and video surveillance, for government and commercial clients with high-security requirements. Our systems protect critical facilities, and our documentation has to be as reliable as the hardware.
About the Role
We are hiring a Technical Writer to own the documentation behind our products. You will take complex engineering and software information and turn it into clear, accurate material that installers, operators, customers and government users can rely on. You will work with our engineering, software, operations and customer-facing teams and have real ownership of how our technical information is written, organized and maintained.
What You Will Do
Write and update installation guides, user manuals, configuration documents and release notes
Develop and maintain documentation that meets government technical order requirements
Interview engineers and subject matter experts, review designs and test products to collect accurate technical detail
Document system configurations and changes for each software release
Build and maintain a well-organized documentation library with consistent formatting and version control
Use feedback from customers, field personnel and internal users to improve documentation
Help develop training materials, quick-reference guides and other supporting content
Keep documentation current as products, standards and procedures change
What You Bring
Experience writing technical documentation, ideally for hardware, software or electronic systems
Clear, precise writing and a sharp eye for detail
Ability to learn technical concepts quickly and explain them to different audiences
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple documents and deadlines
Proficiency with documentation and publishing tools such as Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
A collaborative, professional approach and a commitment to customer service
Preferred
Degree in technical communication, English, journalism, engineering, or a related field
Familiarity with security and surveillance systems or the standards that govern them
Military service or experience in a defense environment is a plus
Why PSG
Meaningful work supporting the security of critical facilities
A team where your expertise shapes how our products are understood and used
Room to grow as our product line and documentation program expand
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
Application Question(s):
Ability to obtain a security clearance and maintain it.
Work Location: In person
