Travel Network Technician
Active Secret Clearance Required | Security+ Required | Nationwide Travel
Pay: $40/hr W2 + Per Diem
Type: 12-Month Contract
Location: Remote When Not Traveling (Candidates May Live Anywhere CONUS)
Travel: 90-100% CONUS Travel with Occasional OCONUS Opportunities
About the Opportunity
Join one of the largest Department of Defense network modernization efforts in history. This $11B DISA initiative is consolidating 22+ DoD agencies onto a secure enterprise network environment, improving cybersecurity, communications, and mission readiness across the federal landscape.
We are seeking Network Technicians with hands-on experience installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and replacing network infrastructure equipment in enterprise or government environments.
This role is ideal for candidates with Cisco networking experience, military Signal Corps backgrounds (25B/25H/25N), data center experience, or network deployment experience who enjoy travel and field-based work.
Responsibilities
Conduct network site surveys across CONUS and OCONUS locations
Install, configure, and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and wireless controllers
Replace and decommission legacy network hardware during modernization projects
Build, install, and organize network equipment racks
Install, terminate, label, and test Cat6 and fiber cabling
Troubleshoot infrastructure issues across classified and unclassified environments
Document existing network environments and deployment activities
Create site survey reports, rack elevations, and network documentation
Support network upgrades, technology refreshes, and lifecycle replacement projects
Work closely with engineering teams and government stakeholders to ensure successful deployments
Required Qualifications
Active Secret Security Clearance
U.S. Citizenship
CompTIA Security+ Certification
3+ years of experience installing, replacing, configuring, and troubleshooting routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points
1+ year of rack-and-stack or data center experience
Experience working with Cat6, fiber, or structured cabling environments
Strong communication and documentation skills
Ability to travel 90-100% of the time
Preferred Qualifications
CCNA Certification
Military networking experience (25B, 25H, 25N, Navy IT, Marine Corps Communications)
Experience supporting DoD or federal network environments
Knowledge of DISA standards and network topologies
Experience with SIPR/NIPR networks
BICSI Certification
Experience using OTDRs, cable testers, and network troubleshooting tools
Experience creating rack elevations and Visio network diagrams
