Job Description
The Systems Engineer - Strategic SATCOM (Space Segment) role supports the engineering and integration of Department of Defense space systems, with an emphasis on satellite communications capabilities. The position requires a seasoned systems engineer who can manage technical baselines, apply model-based or digital engineering methodologies, and collaborate across multiple stakeholders to support complex space programs.
Responsibilities
Perform systems engineering and/or hardware-software integration activities for DoD space systems.
Support engineering efforts related to satellite and ground systems.
Utilize MBSE or digital engineering approaches to define, manage, and maintain technical baselines.
Participate in and contribute to cross-functional engineering teams and technical discussions.
Work independently and collaboratively to complete complex technical tasks.
Essential Skills
10+ years of experience performing systems engineering or hardware/software integration in defense space environments.
Experience with satellite systems and/or ground systems engineering efforts.
Experience using MBSE or digital engineering approaches to manage system definitions and technical baselines.
2+ years of military SATCOM experience.
2+ years of space acquisition experience.
Experience with Agile software development programs, Confluence, and/or Jira.
Experience working with software factories or DevSecOps pipelines.
Top Secret clearance.
Master's degree in a related technical discipline.
Additional Skills and Qualifications
Agile certifications (CSM, CSPO/CPO, PMI-ACP, ICP).
INCOSE certifications.
Work Environment
Work within cross-functional engineering teams and professional stakeholder environments. Requires both independent execution and collaborative problem-solving. The position is based on-site in El Segundo, CA, USA.
