We are seeking a Junior DevSecOps Engineer to serve as a member of the DevSecOps team.
Description of Duties
As the Junior DevSecOps Engineer:
The Junior DevSecOps Engineer supports a US DoW/DoD agency, working alongside senior engineers to build, secure, and maintain Kubernetes-based platforms for the Government customer. The primary platform is Kubernetes based, leveraging Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), AWS Elastic Container Service (ECS), and Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (OCP).
Help build, deploy, and maintain containerized applications and cloud infrastructure under the direction of senior engineers.
Write and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation using tools such as Terraform, Helm, Ansible, and Bash.
Support CI/CD pipelines: build, test, and deploy changes, and help troubleshoot failed builds and deployments.
Apply container hardening and security configurations to meet DoD and agency compliance standards.
Monitor cloud and container environments, respond to issues, and escalate complex problems.
Assist with migrating workloads to cloud and container platforms.
Help deploy and maintain cloud application databases such as PostgreSQL, Cassandra, and MySQL.
Create and keep current documentation for systems, procedures, and integration processes.
Work with software developers, network engineers, and other team members to keep systems integrated and running.
Keep learning current cloud, container, and security technologies and practices.
Basic Requirements
Must have 2, or more, years of directly related experience in DevOps, DevSecOps, cloud, or Linux/system administration.
Must have hands-on experience with at least one cloud platform such as AWS, Azure, or Red Hat OpenShift.
Must have working knowledge of containers (e.g., Docker) and Kubernetes concepts.
Must have basic scripting or automation skills (e.g., Bash, Python, or PowerShell).
Must have a basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines and version control (e.g., Git).
Have good problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn.
Have strong communication and teamwork skills.
Must have a current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+).
Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Terraform, Helm, or Ansible.
Experience with Red Hat OpenShift or managed Kubernetes (AKS or AWS ECS/EKS).
Exposure to container hardening or DoD security compliance (e.g., STIGs).
Experience with Coder Platform.
Preferred Certifications
Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)
AWS or Azure associate-level certification
