About the Role:
Electrical Engineering duties include designs, design reviews and design recovery for existing site infrastructure and new construction projects with a variety of technical problems of wide scope and complexity. Designs will primarily focus on low voltage primary power and facility/building electrical systems (480V and below), MCCs, and distribution systems; electronics will be a minor focus and infrequent.

Responsibilities:
• Develop, review, and document electrical designs for existing facility infrastructure and new construction projects, with a primary focus on industrial low-voltage power distribution and facility electrical systems, primarily 480 V and below, including motor control centers (MCCs) and associated distribution equipment. Design responsibilities include:
o Evaluate and select electrical distribution equipment using vendor data, existing system information, and project requirements.
o Research and apply technical reference materials, applicable electrical codes, and site engineering standards to support design development.
o Perform electrical load calculations, conductor and equipment sizing, and voltage-drop calculations; perform short-circuit analysis, protective-device coordination, and arc-flash studies as required by the project scope.
o Develop technical specifications for switchboards, panelboards, MCCs, transformers, and associated power distribution equipment and materials.
o Prepare design documentation that records the design basis, assumptions, calculations, equipment selections, and technical decisions.
o Develop and review single-line diagrams, panel schedules, grounding and bonding plans, cable and conduit layouts, and installation details for construction drawings.
o Review designs for constructability and coordinate electrical installation requirements with other engineering disciplines and construction personnel.
o Review designs for operability and compatibility with existing facility electrical systems and operating requirements.
o Incorporate maintainability considerations, including equipment access, inspection, testing, and maintenance requirements, into electrical designs.
• Conduct field visits, inspections, and on-site evaluations to verify existing electrical system configurations and conditions; coordinate technical findings and design requirements with subject matter experts.
• Perform design recovery by verifying existing installations and reconstructing or updating electrical drawings and design documentation to reflect field conditions.

Requirements:
• BS in Electrical Engineering (industrial power background), with at least five years of experience.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Successful drug screening.
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security or clearance badge.
• Requires a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Approximately five years of experience in the nuclear industry.
• Familiarity with CAD tools and electrical analysis software (e.g., ETAP, EasyPower) is a plus.
• Active Q Clearance.

Location/Work Arrangement:
• This position is fully remote.
• Typical work schedule will be Mon.-Fri. 8-hour days (5/8 schedule).
• No travel required.

Benefits:
BGS offers a competitive total compensation package to eligible employees. Benefits include Health, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Paid Vacation, 401K, Long and Short-Term Disability.

EEO:
BGS is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply and will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, or protected veteran status.

Exclusive Agreement Disclaimer:
BGS has standing contracts with federal agencies throughout the United States. We require an affirmative exclusive agreement to represent all candidates to our clients. By submitting this application, you are consenting to allow BGS to represent you as a candidate for the role in which you are applying.
