Job Description
Westway is hiring senior telecommunications infrastructure specialists for a secure government facility program in Huntsville. Personnel will apply communications design expertise to help deliver reliable physical infrastructure from requirements and design review through installation verification, testing and turnover - as well as coordinate with engineering, construction, IT, security and customer teams.
What you will do
Develop or review structured-cabling and fiber infrastructure designs, specifications, telecommunications rooms, equipment layouts and cable pathways.
Evaluate drawings, contractor submittals and field conditions; identify gaps and coordinate corrections with the responsible design and construction teams.
Coordinate telecom needs with architectural, electrical, mechanical and security requirements, including room capacity, grounding and bonding, equipment access and routing.
Support installation quality reviews, test-result review, deficiency resolution and acceptance documentation.
Maintain clear technical decisions, design changes, as-built information and turnover records.
Core capabilities sought
Current BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer credential, subject to Westway’s final confirmation.
Senior experience designing or reviewing building telecommunications infrastructure, including copper, fiber, pathways and telecommunications spaces.
Demonstrated ability to interpret drawings and specifications, resolve cross-discipline conflicts and assess installation and test evidence.
Working knowledge of applicable BICSI and ANSI/TIA criteria and the ability to identify governing project requirements.
Clear communication with designers, installers, technical authorities and customer representatives.
Experience that strengthens alignment
Federal, defense, intelligence or other secure-facility projects; design and construction coordination; relevant UFC criteria; SCIF or comparable secure-space experience; CAD/BIM review; construction administration and owner-side technical review.
