Job Description
Overview:
TEKsystems is seeking a Network Architect to support Future Operations (FOPS) and network planning efforts at Kaneohe Bay. This individual will provide the technical network operations expertise needed to evaluate current and future requirements, understand complex network environments, and help translate operational needs into executable plans.
This role requires more than hands-on networking expertise. The ideal candidate will be a forward-thinking engineer and planner who can see the bigger operational picture, anticipate second- and third-order impacts of network changes, and independently drive requirements forward. As the FOPS mission and associated workflows continue to mature, this person must be comfortable operating in an evolving environment, adjusting priorities, and helping establish repeatable processes that support the broader area of operations.
Primary Qualifications:
- Visio experience - current and future engineering planning for the FOPS networks.
- Secret clearance and IAT III within 6 months of hire.
- Cisco catalyst center experience, project management experience, future forecasting for network upgrades, strong understanding of network topology.
Key Responsibilities:
Support Future Operations planning by assessing upcoming network requirements and determining their potential technical and operational impacts.
Leverage strong network operations experience to provide practical recommendations for network implementation, sustainment, upgrades, and modernization.
Review, interpret, and work from network topology diagrams, identifying dependencies, risks, and downstream impacts associated with proposed changes.
Support network environments with a strong preference for experience with Cisco Catalyst technologies.
Evaluate proposed network changes with an understanding of second- and third-order effects across interconnected systems, sites, users, and operational requirements.
Coordinate technical requirements across engineering, operations, project leadership, and other stakeholders.
Apply change management and project management principles to ensure network initiatives are properly planned, communicated, tracked, and executed.
Identify potential technical or operational roadblocks before they affect execution and proactively develop courses of action.
Assist in developing and refining FOPS processes, responsibilities, and workflows as the section continues to mature.
Operate with significant independence, taking ownership of requirements without requiring constant direction from leadership.
Communicate complex network requirements and potential impacts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Remain flexible and adjust course as mission requirements, operational priorities, and the scope of FOPS responsibilities evolve.
Preferred Technical Skills:
Strong background in enterprise or DoD network operations and engineering.
Advanced understanding of network infrastructure, routing, switching, and troubleshooting.
Ability to read, interpret, and analyze complex network topology and architecture diagrams.
Experience supporting Cisco networking environments, with Cisco Catalyst experience strongly preferred.
Experience supporting the planning and execution of network changes, upgrades, migrations, or modernization efforts.
Demonstrated project management and change management experience within complex IT/network environments.
Ability to understand how an individual network change may affect the larger enterprise and operational environment.
Company Benefits:
Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms. If eligible, the benefits available for this temporary role may include the following:
