Job Description
This role focuses on operationalizing a large, complex web application into a hybrid space-focused platform that runs both on-premises and across multiple cloud environments. You will take ownership of an existing web app containing approximately 27,000 lines of HTML and transform it into a production-ready solution that meets strict cybersecurity, coding, and deployment standards. The position requires deep front-end expertise in HTML along with strong full stack development skills, containerization experience, and proficiency with modern cloud and DevOps practices. You will work closely with a team supporting a Space Systems Command customer, ensuring the application is secure, performant, and reliable across environments.
Responsibilities
Take a large existing web application (approximately 27,000 lines of HTML) and operationalize it within the Space Station platform.
Review, refine, and optimize the existing HTML codebase to ensure it is robust, maintainable, and scalable.
Apply required cybersecurity scans and ensure the application complies with SS3 code standards and other security requirements.
Make the application fully functional on the Space Station platform, integrating necessary front-end and back-end components.
Containerize the application using modern container technologies so it can be deployed reliably across environments.
Ensure the application meets all cyber requirements, including authentication, authorization, and secure coding practices.
Deploy the application to Space Station’s hybrid environment, including on-premises infrastructure and cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud.
Design, build, and integrate RESTful APIs and, where applicable, GraphQL endpoints to support application functionality.
Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment workflows.
Collaborate with team members who have HTML experience but may not operate at the required scale, providing technical guidance and support.
Work closely with product, design, and other engineering teams to clarify requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.
Apply responsive and mobile-first design principles to ensure the application functions well across devices.
Implement and manage state management solutions on the front end using tools such as Redux, Context API, or NgRx.
Develop and maintain backend services using one or more modern programming languages and frameworks.
Design and optimize relational and NoSQL database schemas to support application performance and reliability.
Write and maintain complex SQL queries for data access, reporting, and integration needs.
Use Git-based source control for branching, merging, and code review workflows.
Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
Practice test-driven development, write unit and integration tests, and participate in code reviews to maintain code quality.
Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders and provide mentoring to junior developers as needed.
